Hi - Looking to buy

Hi, I am new to the thread

Wife and I are both retired and just sold our 25’ Minnie Winnie.

We are looking to buy an attractive and reliable Casita or equivalent. Must have A/C, heater, toilet.

We live in Central Florida and would be looking for advice on what to look for/avoid and also some good leads?

Thanks
Don

Welcome! In my opinion you made a great choice to go with a molded fiberglass towable.

Casita is a great first molded trailer and fairly easy to find used. It runs heavy on the tongue, which makes for a very stable tow but might require a weight distributing hitch with some smaller tow vehicles. I recommend a minimum 5000/500# tow rating. Although the trailer itself will only weigh around 3000# fully loaded, the tongue weight is typically over 400#.

Many molded trailers, including Casita, are a lot narrower than your motorhome. Biggest thing to think about when downsizing to a smaller RV is the main bed. Not sure what you’re used to, but can you live with a full-size (54”x76”) transverse bed accessed from a narrow aisle on one side only? If not, Casita has more spacious longways and twin bed layouts, but you give up the separate dinette.

Small trailers entail compromises, and it’s about finding the right compromise for you. Attending a rally is one way to see a lot of molded options in one place. Most can accommodate a day visitor, and many owners are willing to give informal tours. Contact the rally coordinator for guidance.

Best wishes in your search!

Unless you find a 16' which is LIGHT on tongue and has a King Bed

But yes, you won't have a separate dinette.

I think it would be very hard to adjust from a 25' RV to a tiny trailer like Casita comfort-wise. I would check out larger fiberglass trailers like Bigfoot and maybe even "take it for a spin" before committing. Vast majority of
people trade UP when they get their next trailer. Just saying.
