Hi we are Dave & Lois from Grand Rapids, Michigan
We are 2 of the 10,000 Americans who are retiring every day. We recently purchased our “retirement travel truck (Nissan Frontier) and are hoping to find our fiberglass trailer in the next few months so we can enjoy some of the spring and summer on the road.
One concern is that we are both on the tall side – Dave is 6’2” and will be very interested in headroom.
Would any one in the West Michigan area be will to show us a 16’ Casita or Scamp ?

The real world head room in a Casita 16' is only 5'10". A post-fire Scamp, ie, later than 2007 will have 6'2" of head room.
At a rally in Oregon, Bex, an amateur blogger, did some video. Since she is every inch of 6' tall herself, she points out the head room of the various units. Frankly, this video was a Godsend to have found as it really, really helped us in our decision making.
The 17 foot Casita has 6' 2" head room, as you will seen in Bex's video.

Welcome, Dave!
Actually all Scamp 16'ers have about 6'2" of headroom. It was only the 13'ers that grew up after the fire.
Numbers aside, though, I think your plan to get a first-hand look at possible trailers is a good one. When you do that, make sure to check out the beds as well. The main bed is fairly tight in Scamp and most Casita 16'ers, at 45"x75". The Casita 16 Liberty model has a much larger bed, but gives up the second dinette, and it's still saddled with the 5'10" interior height.
If you don't get any offers to view through this forum, another possibility is to work through the sales departments at Scamp and Casita. Both have referral programs that may be able to connect you with nearby owners willing to demo their trailers for potential buyers.
For even more headroom, another option to keep an eye out for is an EggCamper. They're made in MI and have something like 6'7" of headroom. The bed is larger, too. The big drawback is most are electric only. I've seen a few used ones with propane systems, but I'm not sure if it was a factory option at one time or added by an owner.
Best wishes in your "egg hunt"!

And the roof AC, if you have it, makes it less under the unit. I am exactly 6 foot and hit my head on the AC all the time (post fire Scamp 16).

16' Casita in Lansing
If you're willing to drive to Central Michigan (Lansing), I have a 16' Casita you can view. I'm planning on heading south the end of Jan so it would need to be soon or after I get back end of Mar.

Hi, Michiganders! As mentioned by Jon, Eggcamper is built in Grandville. It has 6'7" headroom. The owner may be gone to AZ for the winter, though; it's a very small operation, but the trailers are well built. LIGHTWEIGHT FIBERGLASS TRAVEL TRAILER
I have a niece and a nephew living in G.R.

The Parkliner has headroom of 6' 4or5".
They do come up for sale occasionally and I understand they're under new ownership and back in production.
Then there are Escape, Oliver, and Bigfoot, all a bit more pricey but good head room.

Hello! I am from Grand Rapids Mich also! I am hoping to get a FB camper when I retire in 2 years. So I have been looking and lurking here but not ready to buy yet...so I won't be competing with you for any good deals! LOL!
But I would love to see what you end up with!
Right now I have teeny little pop up camper (it is half the size of a reg basic pop up) but when I get older I will need something less labor intensive in its set up.

Hi, there, best luck to you, too, Lily, totally agree a one-piece egg is easier than a pop-up!

Lil Snoozy travel trailers have 6'4" interior room, even in the bath room/shower. Best of luck with your search.

I have always been a fan of the floorplan in a Lil Snoozy!

I am 6'1" and Our Lil Snoozy has plenty of headroom. There are no vents or AC through the roof to hit your head on. The entire trailer feels roomier than most others of its size.

An electric only trailer would be much too limited for me.

A few hundred dollars (for mods) can fix that. Personally, I am starting to think that I could get by without 'installed' LP. A portable camp stove on the countertop for cooking, and a catalytic heater for warmth, each will run off the small bottles.
