Hi we're Ellen & Scott full-time in our 13' Scamp

Hi - we're the proud parents of a new 13' Scamp. We picked her up in mid-December in Minnesota and have been full-time since then traveling the States in search of our next sailboat. We plan on splitting our time between sailing and Scamping over the next few years. Looking forward to learning from all the experts on this forum as we're total newbies to fiberglass RVs.

We're keeping track of our travel adventures in our Scamp on our blog (The Cynical Sailor & His Salty Sidekick). Would love for you to stop by and check it out. Also keen for any camping tips etc as we make our way up the Eastern seaboard from Florida.

Cheers - Ellen & Scott

Welcome to the forum, Ellen & Scott!

There are a number of current and former sailors here. We seem to have some shared values- maintaining a small footprint, staying connected to natural surroundings, living in small spaces- as well as a common material, fiberglass.

Happy travels!

Thanks Kootenai Girl! We've been really fortunate to have opportunities to travel around - we count our lucky stars every day :-)

Thanks Jon! I've noticed so many similarities between cruising and RVing. Definitely seems to attract similar people - folks who enjoy a nomadic life and who are open to trying new things and experiences. The folks we've met doing both have been so incredibly nice and supportive. Definitely a pay it forward kind of philosophy - always willing to help newbies out because they've been there before. And it is kind of fun to travel around in a fiberglass trailer. If we could just put sails on our Scamp, then maybe we could take her out on the water too :-)

Cool blog,
you guys need to attend a fiberglass rally and see other models, there maybe close to 2 dozen other brands there and each one is unique. Meeting others and their units is fun.

cpaharley - it would be so much fun to go to a fiberglass rally! We're always on the lookout now for other fiberglass RVs whenever we're in a new campground. We met a Canadian couple a few days ago with a Trillium and they were kind enough to let us have a peek which was really interesting.

Welcome to the forum. The Green Eggs and Ham rally is in Gunter Hill COE Campground near Montgomery, Ala. March 11-15. There may be a few spaces left. We are visiting friends in Wauchala Fla. then off to the rally.

Charlie - thanks for the info about the Green Eggs and Ham rally - love the name of it! We're currently in Florida and will probably be here for a while longer so I don't think we would be able to make that one. Hope you guys have a great time!
