Howdy from Austin!

My name is Michael, and I am newly obsessed with fiberglass/camper trailers. I'm seeking one to live in, but desperately hoping to find one for less than $2000. I attempted to get a loan from the bank for nearly 5000 and they laughed at me. Damn credit.

Anyway, I'm new here and very interested.

Thank you.

Michael

Getting on for under $2K price will mean that you will need to keep your eyes out and be ready to act fast. The price will definitely reflect the amount of work it may need in repairs. Your price range will limit you to a 13foot basic fiberglass trailer, but for many of us (me included) that is exactly enough space and amenities for comfortable camping.
In addition to the For Sale section in this forum, For Sale: Molded Fiberglass Travel Trailers - Fiberglass RV you might check this site:

Getting any kind of loan on an RV over 5 years old is difficult with even the best credit, and when you tell them you want to live in it, its Good Bye Charlie.

I can't say that I have ever seen a ready-to-live-in FGRV in that price range other than a very few Hunter Jr.s and Campsters, and they are very basic.

As mentioned, if one does appear in that $$$ range you might have 30 minutes to show up with cash in hand.... Otherwise I will beat you to it and I am in CA.....LOLOL

Sub-2K campers

Hi Michael

Good luck with your search. You might also try www.searchcraigslist.org

People advertising in the ads at fiberglass camper websites have a pretty good idea of the value of their campers and finding a great deal might be more difficult.

I paid a few hundred less than two thousand for my Compact Jr. It's a little bit of a different animal than most fiberglass campers as it has a pop up roof.

13' Scamps from the 1970's often sell for several thousand $$$$$, at prices I suspect are more than the cost of the camper when new.

But someone selling on craigslist might have had their unit for decades and aren't aware of the high demand for them.

Of course, always beware of scams where the price of the trailer is too good (low) to be true. On Craigslist or anywhere else.

Deals are out there, but you have to be careful.

Here's one in Arizona Michael....

1973 Boler Trailer | Prescott, AZ | Fiberglass RV's For Sale

Pam is right, low price often equals lots of work to be done.
But a camper like this one can be a blank canvas to an artist.

I just spotted this ad online, I have no connection to the sale.

Thanks for that info! That made me aware of yet another type of camper that I didn't know existed. It's amazing how many different brand names there are.
