Smile Howdy from SW Iowa, I love my Casita

Hi from SW Iowa, I just got signed up and thouhgt that I should say hello.

I purchased a 13 foot Casita camper 1985 late last summer. I fell into a great camper for me.

I will use it mostly to go to the Iowa State Fair for 2 weeks in august but I may find more to do with it.

It is a little rough but it is great for what I need. I took out the stove top, old refrigerator, all of the water lines except the sink and I will flow that into a portable gray water tank, took out the porta potty for extra storage space and it was not useable. I will have bathroom facilities any place that I camp.

I figure a cooler for food and beverages, an electric skillet, crockpot, maybe microwave and a coffee maker and I am set.

I purchased Coleman air mattress to make the bed a little more comfy.

I am a BIG guy and my family says that I don't get into the Casita, it is more like I wear it. Kinda funny to see such a bug guy climb out of a 13 foot camper.

I have a few things to replace, update and work on but I need a good spring project.

I work full time and most vacations for the past 6 years have been carnival cruises, 13 so far. This will be for the fair and maybe some close to home weekends.

I will try to post some pictures when I get this all figured out.

Photos, yes!! We love them here!
It sounds like your trailer's name should involve the ocean

Welcome! From the other side of the state... (I'll keep an eye out for your egg at the fair! We usually head over for a pork chop and homeade ice cream)

There's a few folks here and there. You'll be surprised at how many Fiberglass campers you now see, that you didn't notice before - and most I've seen are Scamps.

We're in NW Iowa - Storm Lake! I think I recall seeing another egg around here too.
Welcome!

That is surprising since both the boler American and Love Bug were made in Tripoli Iowa.

Also, Burro was made in Sac City for a while.
My dad was telling me about the guy who used to make them. He saw the molds and a handful of trailers on the persons 'junkyard'. He didn't think the guy making them was the type of person you'd want making something you tow down the road at 65mph...but they were made in Iowa nonetheless!

Welcome David!
It's a phenomenon I've seen a lot with cars. Great big guys driving Mini Coopers... and the converse holds true too. One place I lived, my next-door neighbor was a retired jockey and did a little horse training. He was 4' 10" and 100 pounds "soaking wet". He always drove a Mercury Grand Marquis 4-door sedan.

People are amazed I have a King size bed in a 16' trailer. I call it my Bed-Womb.

Welcome camper407dm,

Maybe we will run into each other. The hubbie and I are in IL, although both of us are originally from NE IA. Kids were born there and family still lives there, so we have our camper there occasionally.

Check out the rallies. There are a few in the Midwest. I have threatened for years to hold one in NE IA, SW WI or NW IL. Now that tenure is behind me, it might happen next summer if I can find the right campground.

Welcome to Fliberglass David. One thing about getting an older unit is having something to tinker with! God for it....

Nice clean up job. I have yet to get the North Dakota dust off the Scamp and the Man Camper.
