John C. Duffy

From Eastern Oregon la Grande, Island city area. I own a 1984 toyota 18' Sunrader motorhome fiberglass clam-shell fully self contained, 4cyl 4speed stick. I'm looking for a method of cleaning and polishing the body, which is very heavily oxidzed, heard about using a redmax or zep floor polish any ideas, input yes or no. Has anyone here tried it and if so what were the results and the methods used, prep work if any, just need results etc., good, bad or indifferent. Thank You Very Much I am 78 and have had 2 heart surgeries 1. oct13, 2014 2. June 26, 2015 so not really capable of extreme physical exertion but have sons who would help.

I used the liquid version Barkeepers Friend to clean our Uhaul camper. Worked good, then used a marine wax. It's a mild abrasive, use a damp rag or sponge, flush well with a water hose.

It's a strenuous job no matter which of the approaches you take, so make sure your sons do the lion's share of the work. Even my little 13' Scamp takes most of a day to wash and wax, and my upper body aches for a couple of days afterward. It's worth it, though- looks great and helps protect it from the sun.

Hi John,
As mentioned, it takes a lot of work to clean and prep the surface, but putting on the floor finish is fairly easy and should be done in small sections at a time anyway. Don't forget, you won't see much improvement until at least the #4 coat, and then it's "Glow City".
Goos Luck
