L'il Guy

My husband and I drove to Breckenridge, Colorado last week and adopted (e.g. bought) the Perris Pacer that was for sale there. We camped on the way home and greatly enjoyed ourselves. That is, until Sunday evening when we were in Calisoga, California. That was the night of the tragic fires in Napa and Sonoma Counties. We ended up stuck there for two days, due to road closures and just arrived home in Humboldt County last night. The smoke was heavy and intense and we're trying to wash everything, including ourselves, today. Although we were inconvenienced without food etc. - everything was closed - we are grateful we're safe. We are saddened by the loss of so many homes, businesses and worse, the lives of people and animals. Holding everybody close in my heart...

Very good to hear you're safe and sound Ilene. The fires were horrible. Many people were trapped in their homes or garages with no escape possible due to how fast the fires moved.

Yes, I know. It is so huge that it's really impossible to take everything all in. We heard this afternoon, Calistoga is under mandatory evacuation...

fires

I have to wonder how we are going to resolve this? Maybe a stop to tearing up the forests with huge subdevisions, less humans living in them, more fire breaks.

It seems each and every year our fires get more serious than the last!

CA Fires

It appears that these fires were most likely started by downed PG&E lines from the high winds during the early morning hours... In the Bay Area we have so many wonderful folks supporting the effort to end this catastrophic event.

If you are ever in an area close to a fast moving fire, please do not wait for the phone call to leave. GET OUT, BE SAFE. Those who have died could not, or did not get out in time.

I personally have many students who have been evacuated and/or deployed. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this.

Be safe, be kind!
