Longtime lurker, new oner of an old Boler

After well over 6 months of lurking around & reading about fiberglass RVs here it looks like I can finally join the community. I would say we, but I think my wife has been a member since before we got married.

Anyway I finally had to travel to the Chicago area for business. We ended up driving from home in Colorado so we could finally get around to inheriting The Egg from her father, as he doesn't use it anymore. Its a nice little 13' Boler, I think my father-in-law is saying a '72, but he hasn't used it since the mid 2000s or fiddled with it since before that really. Its in need of a bit more work than I was expecting, but still in good enough shape to make for an interesting project.

Need to rewire the thing eventually, but hopefully I just need a new plug to get the lights working for the trip home as the old plug got torn off or something.

I'll probably have a good pile of questions here soon enough, as I dig into things & figure out what I'm actually dealing with. Months of lurking here has already given me a great head start on what I need to be looking for & thinking about though.

That era and area it might be a boler American. Easily ID'd by the nameplate under the front and rear windows. Just like the one I'm looking for.

If you haven't already solved the tail light problem it might be easier to buy a set of Magnetic towing lights from Harbor Freight, tie them on the bumper, run the wires up to the hitch with some ties and you are ready to go. That old wiring might work for an hour, a day or a week, hard telling and fixing it on the road can be a pain.

Good Luck in your trip.

I have the HF set at home, but didn't bring them. At this point things have gone from new plug to stripping out all wiring & putting in all fresh. Easier & safer. Some of the joints were just twisted wire & tape (a few didn't even have tape). Its not my best wiring job, but it will get us home. Just need 20' of 14 gauge white to ground everything.

Looking at the suspension I'm seeing 1/2" between the trailing arm & the frame. I expect its going to be a rough ride home & I'll be ordering s new axle soon.
