Member Introduction

Hi,

We inherited a 1977 Trillium 1300 when my brother died last year. We camped with him many times, so the little trailer is very special to our family. We've remodeled the inside with paint and new fabric. The outside still needs a little elbow grease.

Last summer, my husband, who is 6'5", and my two daughters ages 14 and 12 spent a week at Ft. Wilderness in WWD in it. Since that trip, My guy calls it The Hobbit Hole. He loves it despite it's diminutive size.

I've been lurking here for a while. I decided it was finally time to introduce myself. Here is a photo of The Hobbit Hole and the sticker inside the closet door for those interested. Sorry the quality of the HH's birth certificate isn't sharper.

Glad to be here!
Elisabeth

Welcome Elisabeth!

Very nice Trillium! It has both the door in the window, and the much more rare kitchen window. Given you also have a converter, furnace, and fridge, I assume that you also have the shelves, front and back. If you don't mind me asking, what is hanging from the rear bumper, wheels?

At 6'5", your husband must find it a bit small.

You must have seen all my requests for a picture of the data sheet on Trilliums. Thank you very much. If you don't mind, I would like to add your trailer to this list:
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...tml#post435135

Just because it is a bit tough to read, I would like to confirm the data on your sheet:
Serial number: 13-1105753
Furnace: Duo Therm 65810-2 Gas
Range: Brown ZFJ 002 LT Gas
Gas Container: Eng. Prod. 20 lb Gas
Power Converter: Pro. Dynamics 6811 Elec.

Please let me know if I got anything wrong.

'77 Trillium 1300

David,
Yes, please add us to your list. The range might have been brown once, but it's been spray painted multiple times. Other than that your deciphering looks accurate.

We removed the front shelf to give my 12 year old headroom on the top bunk. It wasn't in very good shape anyway, but everything else is there.

The wheels on the back bumper have been there as long as I can remember (14 years at least.) They keep me from scraping the bumper on my steep driveway. The back window holds a window unit air conditioner. My brother added it to survive the summers around here.

My husband has learned to endure. He married into a family of shorties!
Thanks for the welcome,
Elisabeth

Welcome, Elisabeth!

What a great trailer! It is always nice to see a trailer in use, especially by a family. Lasting memories for all.

Hope to see you on the road somewhere.

Hobbit Hole interior

Thanks to everyone!

Here are a few shots of the interior of our Trillium. I did all the sewing and painting before our trip last summer.

Did you paint the Ensolite? How do you like the results? What paint did you use?

Just out of curiosity, what did you do with the front shelf, and the escape hatch where your air conditioner sits?

Yes, I painted the Ensolite. I cleaned it with TSP, but it was so dingy and spotty. There were holes where rusty curtain rod brackets were screwed in and damage from an accident. A trucker ran into it in a gas station parking lot and broke the fiberglass on the curbside front corner. My brother did a great job with the fiberglass repair, but the Ensolite was patched and terrible.

I pulled off the patch job and caulked the holes and cracks with latex caulk, then primed all of the Ensolite and the t-molding with Glidden Gripper. Then I painted with Glidden interior paint in eggshell using a foam roller. I tried to pick a paint color that matched the vintage of the trailer and looked good with the slick molded fiberglass. The molded part of the trailer is in good shape. I was careful not to drip on that part.

I covered the hole in the Ensolite with a cloth "headboard" made out of an egg crate foam mattress pad doubled, then covered in fabric and hand-tied like a quilt. It isn't attached to the wall, but the bunk holds it up. The foam makes for a nice place for my girls to lean against when they read in bed.

I can't say how the paint will hold up, but after six months it looks great. We don't have extreme cold, so weather isn't a factor as far as cracking. I debated painting it, but my goal was to make it cute and serviceable and paint is the cheapest way to make a big change. I can always repaint it later if I need to.

Here are a few before photos and a better one of the headboard that covers the hole.

Sorry, I didn't answer your other questions. I have no idea what happened to the window where the air conditioner sits. Before my time. The shelf is also gone. It was cracked and beyond repair. We relocated the light fixture to the side of the overhead kitchen cabinet.

Elisabeth, Please accept my condolences on the loss of your brother. It sounds like you had some great times together.

I'm sure that he is tickled pink with your color choices and it must make those camping trips pretty special, to be using your brothers rig.

Thank you so much, Pam.
Camping in my brother's rig is a way to honor him in our lives. The paint and sewing really helped us to claim it as our own, too.
It's nice to be here!

Just curious, what is the interior height? I am 6'4" and looking for a fiberglass model.
