Movin' On Up
What a great forum. My wife and I are transitioning from our Teardrop to FG. Our new rig is in the preliminary stages so I won't get too specific but we are looking forward to an early spring delivery. Don't get me wrong, we love our teardrop but just putting on your pants in the morning can be tricky, especially if it's pouring rain. And doing all our cooking outside was OK in our 20 something backpacking days but 40 years later, it will be nice to have more options even though we're no longer sleeping on the ground.
We've already met some really nice folks within a couple hours drive who have been more than willing to share their FG camper expertise (they've owned several) and let us tour their rig. If this forum is any indication, we know that we are headed in the right direction and excited to be on our way. More details to follow as we get closer to actual pick-up but, we hope to see you around the campfire!

Hi Brian (and wife) welcome to FiberglassRV
So, if you're waiting for a pickup date... what did you decide is the perfect trailer for you? I'm sure it's perfect for your needs/wants and you'll make tons of memories along the way.

Brian, we have the best of both worlds, vintage teardrop, and a fiberglass camper for longer trips, and we're 60's and retired.

The "best of both worlds" is what we're shooting for - at least in the short term. Once my wife, Nancy, retires too, we'll probably downsize to a single rig but, it could happen earlier. Too soon to tell where the road will lead. We just know we want to be on it.

Sounds like you're buying new...Which brand(s?) are you considering, and why?

NY is a big place, but if you are near western NY there is a group of us that camp at Brushwood Folklore Center. A great place to camp in a FGRV or anything for that matter.
Maybe we will see you and your future glass camper there.

New Parkliner Hatching!
Stopped by Parkliner this afternoon to get a preview of our new PL that we are picking up in the morning. Not quite finished yet, it still needs application of decals and final cleaning but it is a beauty! We can't wait for tomorrow and will take lots of pictures as we camp our way back home over the next few days.

Is this trailer coming to Fish Creek, and can we look at it? We saw one at Hunting Island SC, but didn't get the tour.

Testimony,
We had a tour of a Parkliner at the Scamp Camp at Highland Hammocks. It looked very nice, a nice addition to the Fiberglass Family.

You bet! The Little Guy will be lonely but the ParkLiner will be making the run to Fish Creek. Look forward to seeing you.

First Pix
Here are some early pix. It was about a 650 mile return trip for us. Total of 4 nights in 3 campgrounds. The ParkLiner handled like a dream even in the heavy truck traffic on I-81 at 70 MPH. We're headed out in a couple of weeks on our next adventure and are looking forward to many more.

Congrats Brian. Great looking little trailer!!! Glad to hear your first tow was a good one.
I don't know what tires came with your trailer are but just a heads up that many of our trailers come with special trailer tires (marked on the sidewall as ST) and they are not rated for doing more than 65 mph.
Hope you make lots of great memories with your new trailer.

Thanks Carol -
The tires are, indeed, STs. I tried to keep it below 65 when I could but, when you're squeezed between two tractor trailers going down a mountain and the left lane is full of even faster traffic. there is little choice. It certainly does raise the pucker factor!

Hi Donna,
I noticed your posting on the ParkLiner site. The original cabinet doors on the first units, that had kind of a yellow finish (which really turned us off), are gone for good. Chandler has gone to a maple veneer plywood with a clear (water based??) polyurethane which really shows off the wood grain but does not turn it yellow. We were pleasantly surprised when we picked up ours and found the new finish. There are so many cabinets and we really didn't want to refinish all of them!
