my new egg

HI all,
Well I finally did it!! I am the proud owner of a 05 Castita Liberty 17'. I Have been a member of the website for a while just didnt have my egg yet, but now it has been adopted and looking forward to good times.
For those of you still looking for your egg, sometimes they will come to you in strange ways. I had a countrywide search on as I was looking and learning. In the end found what I consider a 'highend' model that fits us perfectly, and did not know even know this model existed 4 hrs before I went and saw it. Only 2 hrs from home for a fair price. I dont think you can ask for more then that.
Look forward to reading and learning and participating.

Congrats Laura, that is a very nice trailer you bought. Of coarse I haven't seen it but in general the Casita 17's are very nice. What are you using for a tow vehicle ?

Thank you all.
the towing ah yes.
so far it is a f150 2006. good right, but the husband says it doesnt need the electric brake because ford told him it was already there because it has a 7 plug in the back presently.
From what I have read on this site, we still need to have and install an electric brake, and that we do not have one just because we have a plug in the back. CAn someone tell me if I am correct about this? I believe we just have the light system to the vechicle.
Looking for some thoughts. I am thinking we need to buy the teknosha P-3 stuff to make it a good go.(see told you I read the columns posts on this site)
thanks

Apparently your truck is wired for lights, turn signals, and brakes BUT you need a brake CONTROLLER to make the trailer brakes operate.

Laura,
I feel privileged your first outing will be with our group rally! You will learn lots and have a great time. Just an FYI, we have always used a sway bar when we tow - makes the trailer MUCH easier to track and not whip you all over the road. We installed an electric brake also. It was the best thing we did! If you send me your email BY PRIVATE MESSAGE - DO NOT POST - I will send you some rally updates, ok?

Congrats on your "new" Casita Liberty! Ours is a '99, and we tow with a '98 F150... so we are an older version of your rig.

Bob Ruggles is exactly right about the brake controller... and while the F150 has enough power and weight to pull and stop your Casita, it'll do much better once the trailer brakes are ON. (Ask me how I know! It involved a maladjustment and a long, steep hill.)

Again, congrats on your purchase. I hope you will enjoy it as much as (or more than!) we do ours!
