Smile New Burro Owner in SF Area

I just bought a 13' 1979 Burro a couple of weeks ago and am excited to get out and use it! My 14 year old son plays and performs bluegrass music, and there are lots of nearby festivals where camping is the norm. We've been looking for a year or so for one of the small fiberglass eggs to tow behind my 4WD station wagon.
I spent the last two weeks cleaning up all the old double sided tape and caulk remnants inside from the previous owner (what were they thinking??) and then dropped it off yesterday at a reputable RV repair facility where they are going to look it over for safety, test the systems etc, fix anything that needs it, and teach me how to use everything (although I think I've figured that out already).
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing super critical is found wrong with it (like a bad frame or axel). Then I'll bring it home and have my laborers (eg two teenage sons) buff and polish the exterior. I'm not particularly fond of the faux wood decor, albeit period authentic, so cosmetic improvements may be in the future as well. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of other folk's projects and getting ideas and advice.

Welcome to FiberglassRV Jo Beth, we're glad you're here.

Nice looking Burro, I'm sure it will serve you well for your plans. When you dropped the trailer at the RV repair place.... you did tell them "USE NO SILICONE CAULK" (I'm shouting)... right?

love those little Burros!

Ahhh....brings back memories! Our first FGRV was a 1978 13' Burro, love the look! We had it 12 years. Due to a leak (we didn't know about when we bought it) we ended up removing all the cupboard doors and replaced them with wood, really made it feel cozier. Feel free to ask questions, we had all sorts of little repairs and things we did to make it "ours" and loved our adventures in it.

Have fun and enjoy your little Burro!

Penney

PS We have pictures of our 'modified' interior if you'd like to see them. The couple who bought it from us redid it completely different.....the joy of owning an egg is making it your personal nest egg!

ah, I remember MY first egg...

It was a 13ft Burro too!. You are going to have so much fun.

Too bad I won't be near longer. I am in Sac and could have helped. Your RV repair place isn't in Davis, is it?

Does anyone know where the VIN on a Burro is located? I just bought a 1986 and need to have it inspected before they'll register it, they look at the VIN and we don't know where it is.

We had an 86 17' Burro. The VIN was on the top of the frame rail at the front driver side near the tongue. Ours was also covered with paint and very hard to see. Hope you find it.
