New guy

HI. I'm Chris McKenna, and I live in southern Florida south of Miami. I'm looking to buy something that I can tow behind my Wrangler. Also to learn a little of the ins-and-outs of small trailering. Thanks!

Welcome, Chi’s!

Start by reading the towing section of your owner’s manual. Depending on the year and model of your Wrangler, the tow rating could be as low as 2000#. That still gives you access to the smallest 13’ category of molded trailers, which comes in quite a few flavors.

Know that most of them are not really engineered for heavy duty off-road use. However they work well when taken on improved back roads and set up as a base camp for deeper exploration. A few people have renovated and strengthened an older unit with off-road use in mind.

One exception is the GoBE trailer. It’s small and basic, with a thicker shell than many and a robust frame and suspension designed for off-road use.

If you have a four-door Wrangler you have a few more choices up to around 16’.

Best wishes in your trailer search!

Might look at this
As it shows a large number of trailers that have been weighed ( loaded& ready to go) at a fiberglass rally
It might give you some ideas of what to look for
