New here...

Name is Grant, I'm 39 yo and from Indiana. I grew up camping both in a tent and 16' camper ('66 Shasta). However, after mostly tent camping over the past 20 years, my wife and I are ready to pull something instead. While I've personally seen a few Scamps on the road, I was unware of the vast community around fiberglass RVs - although I'm not surprised because these things are the bees knees.

Really diggin that SnoozyII, as well as the Casita Liberty 17'. I would appreciate any helpful bits of info regarding those trailers! Thanks

Welcome!

Snoozy is all-electric as built from the factory. If you want to do much off-grid camping, some modifications might be required. Others have been that road. The toilet is a cassette, which means a smaller holding tank and more frequent dumping. More headroom and the wide rear door allows you to slip long cargo inside, like kayaks or paddle boards.

Casita is a more conventional propane-based rig. Love the longways sleeping arrangement in the Liberty. Casitas tend to run heavy on the tongue, often over 400#.

Both great trailers, but very different. Best wishes in your search!

I just spent 5 days boondocking in Indiana. Parked at friends and worked on a construction project, went to a small music event at a winery, did a drone project at a private lake and best of all sat around the camp fire. Tonight I'm listening to the rain on the Scamp roof at Copper Harbor, Michigan.

Kenneth, I just mapped Copper Harbor, Michigan. You are surrounded by Lake Superior? Very cool. Welcome to the forum.

You don't mention what part of IN you are live but there is a fiberglass egg rally at Shakamak State Park near Jasonville, IN this weekend if you want to come and check out different brands of eggs. Lots of wonderful ideas and friendly people. At last count there were 25 eggs I believe. Saturday and Sunday would be the best days. You don't have to be camping....just come and visit.

I was near Clayton to hang a garage door and roll up some sod. (It was about 90 degrees out) Now north to tour copper mines and enjoy cool WX. There is still snow in the road ditches here. TNX

I actually just found out about this event via this site - lots of good info. I'm contemplating it - if the weather holds out we might make the drive, which is about 90 min. Its a nice park, we were camping there just last month.
