New member from Croatia
Hello everybody!
I am Miro, from Croatia, Europe. After many years of camping, then several years not, few days ago i bought this Predom caravan, it is 1978. Still don't know what to do, collecting some tips and ideas. I will start with pulling everything out, including floor, then start from naked fiberglas.
PS
I apologies for my English, it is not my native language

Welcome to FGRV Miro. Have to ask why you're taking the floor out, soft areas?

Thanks for welcoming Dave.
Well, everything is in very bad condition, caravan was located at the construction site and used for security stuff. I want everything except chassis and fiberglass to be custom made and brand new. This is once in a lifetime project. I did not put time and financial frame.

Your English is excellent. Good luck with whatever you do to your Predom.

Welcome
Hey Miro.
Welcome to the forum. There are other fiberglass trailer forums you should check out with a lot of information regarding trailer rebuilds, although the models may be different a lot of the fiberglass techniques should still apply. Good luck with your project and HAPPY CAMPING or is it CARAVANING. PEACE!

Welcome, Miro!
We love hearing about people's experiences rehabbing and camping outside North America! Details differ, but we have much in common.
Hope you'll post lots of pictures as you remodel your trailer/caravan. Reminds me of an old joke:
CHILD: Why are grown-ups always asking kids what they want to be when they grow up?
ADULT: We're looking for ideas!
Best wishes!

The floor
We took everything out down to the floor too. there was a soft spot at the front where it leaked either through the window or through the screws in the aluminum channels that hold the sides to the top and bottom. The screws were not galvanized nor stainless steel. If we had known better, we would have replaced ALL those screws in the channels.
We did not replace the entire floor, only the soft spot. And the vinyl floor covering which was not good after 25 years.
Taking the floor up allows you to look at the attachments of the trailer to the frame. My husband seems to think the Predoms have a good system to hold the trailr to the frame but I can't remember how it is done.
We also replaced the vinyl strip that goes in the channel. We had to get that in England as the strip sold here is too wide and sticks out too far for our liking.
Cheers, Jennifer

Very nice little trailer Miro. I'm also Croatian born in Split. I'll be there this October. Use stainless steel wherever possible and give it a good German wax rub down for that strong sun we have over there. All the best! Tony Ninkovic

Camping or caravaning
Well, camping can be in a tent or a trailer. Caravaning sounds like it is only in a trailer (caravan in Europe).

First I've heard of a Predom but looks quite nice. I look forward to following your progress.
I keep hearing of how beautiful Croatia is and would like to visit someday.
Have fun with your rebuild.
Walt

So camping it is!
Went for 4 days to island named Dugi otok, my wife and me, by motorbike, tent only.
Two weeks ago.
