Do you stay for the whole season?

It is a wonderful place to camp.
No apology to me necessary!

It is, quite possibly, one of the top three places to camp in Florida. I’ve been there many times, though not camping. As I said, I see no point in camping an hour away from home (unless it was the location of a rally I wanted to attend).

BTW

By the way, Sue, we will be in site #47 at Scamp Camp at Highlands Hammock State Park. Stop by. When my sister reserved her site, just down from us, she wanted a tent site. So she called the campground to ask if they could reserve a tent site for a 13' Scamp. They said sure, just reserve it as "tent" not "trailer." Good to know I think.

Bahia Honda, in the Keys, though I do not know how well it survived Irma and Manatee Springs State Park in Chiefland. There are, however, several State Parks that could compete with Manatee Springs for #3.

O’leno, due to its proximity to Ichetucknee Springs-
Blackwater River or Top Sail in the Panhandle-
Favor Dykes or Anastasia on the east coast near St. Augustine-
Highlands Hammock in Sebring-
Oscar Scherer near Venice-

NOTE: Both Highlands Hammock and O’leno were constructed by the CCC

Maximum stay is 14 nights. I guess some folks stay 2 weeks, leave for a few days, and then manage to get another 2 weeks...some others don't have 14 nights in the same site, so they move around. We were lucky for the past 2 years, and had a large, secluded site in the "pet friendly" section. This year we will have 13 nights in a smaller site. I'm looking forward to warmer weather - in 6 weeks!

Upcoming SOTF Trips

Sue, the Florida Sisters on the Fly (sistersonthefly.com) have two upcoming trips on the calendar. If you'd like to join as a "sister on the try" without joining please let me know. I'll put you in touch with our trip organizer. Sisters on the Fly is like girl scouts, but with wine. Lots of fun. No men, no kids. But dogs are ok. Some single gals, some married, all ages. Trips are weekends of Feb 22nd and March 15. The March 15 one is less expensive and would be a better reflection of what our trips are usually like.

Today's project is window coverings. I have been reading posts by others and they have been very helpful. I hope to acquire a lot of information and start sharing soon!
