New member with a Boler!

Hello my name is John!

In July I bought myself a boler. My plan is to live in it full time for 3-4 month in summer 2019 and travel along the west coast.

I have done a lot of work so far and am not quite done yet.

-removed frame, local trailer shop welded me some reinforcements that I thought could use some strength.
-wire wheeled the whole thing clean and painted with some black rust paint.
-on the boler itself I had to fix some fiberglass underneath. Grind down some soft areas that were holding in the wood floor. Get ride of all the soft areas and then added new fiberglass.
-installed new hubs and bearings
-new rims from vintage trailer supply with a half inch positive offset. I tried using canadian tire rims. They had 0 offset and they pushed the tire within a 1/4" of the fender. So I had to return them and get the new ones.
-tires I got were from tdot performance maxxis m8008, st175/80r.
-had a very fun time putting the egg back in the frame.
-the 2 side windows I removed, cleaned them up with steel wool and some aluminum buffing compound.
-got new glass cut for one of the windows which was cracked.
-reinstalled with fresh butal tape.
-front and rear windows I got ride of old seals and reinstalled with new seals from scamp.com
-installed a fantastic roof vent which I bought from Amazon. Made a wood frame for inlet in the inside and used 8/32 hardware to hold it in real tight. Butyl tape, then caulking.
-removed everything from the interior.
-clean clean clean cleaned the inside. Spent a few days scrubbing the interior walls and all the fiberglass to get it fresh again.
-cleaned up fridge which still works. Installed a new oat ply in the door to give it a fresh look. Reinstalled
-new cabinet doors all made from pine with a beeswax seal product.
-new counter top bought from home depot cut to fit
-new sink faucet
-new stove installed from atwood (amazon)
-build a fulltime bed set up with access door. Will be making drawers for the inside of the bed storage soon.

Can anyone date my boler? Beside the door it says boler Voyager. I don't have a vin number for it but I do had a very old sticker on the outside of it. Numbers were carved in by hand. Will be adding photos soon!

Lots of more work to go! But I am getting there.

Most of the time the first post made by a forum member is a simple question. And often one that has been asked many times before.

But not this guy.

Yup. It's usually, "I've gutted my trailer; what do I do now"?

Thank you for the support! Haha I like that comment. I know it might not have needed everything I did. I like doing things all or nothing though. I did use the forum a lot for reference on some topics!

WOW !

VERY, VERY impressive work ! And, in such a short time. Welcome to the rest of the 250 'currently active' FGRV owners - in Ontario, many of which also do the Boler thing ! Hope to met you personally sometime; when you're not too busy ! (But, I wouldn't dare interfere with your obvious schedule.) Care to share your location area ? - 'Dave' in the 'Highlands'.

You are doing a great job.
I rebuilt my 1976 new to me Ventura last winter and am looking at an old Boler which would need a full restore as you are doing.Great job. Pics are nice.

What did you finish the interior walls with? Did you insulate?
Thanks

Hey Murray! Thanks! Me and my girlfriend scrubbed the interior elephant skin with all sorts of different scrubbers. Used bleach and water, a little spray9 to freshen up the interior walls. It wasn't so bad so I'm pleased with how clean it is now! Not perfect but pretty close.
