New old Trillium owner

Hi,
I just towed home my "new" 1978 Trillium 4500. Quality lasts! The gelcoat is still shiny. The interior vinyl covering is still nice. The frame is solid and most things work. It does need cleaning and some updating, but I'm a happy camper.

It was only a few weeks ago, while tent camping in British Columbia, that a neighboring couple extolled the virtues of their Trillium. I doubted that I could find one at a price and distance that I could handle. Fortunately watching craigslist paid off.

Look forward to years of fun and lots of learning through this website.

Cheers,
Bob

Welcome Bob, you didn't by any chance 'steal' that really nice one on Boise craigslist did you? It looked like an amazing deal.

Pictures! Must have pictures! Is it a Deluxe? Congrats on the great find. A Trillium 4500 is a nice unit.
You are going to have to change your profile, that is unless you are still in the market. Even with four, I am still in the market.

Welcome Bob!
I sent you a PM about a group order for tire/tank covers and decals if you need them.

Dave,
You are running out of room for trailers on your profile. ;-)

What a screaming deal!
I don't mean to be a buzz kill, but that is not a 1978. The kitchen is from a 1977, or earlier. In 1978 they added a larger fridge that required the kitchen to stick out about 3" at the fridge. Also, the 1978's had a door window that opens.

If you have the serial number, check out the latest serial number list at:

Maybe add a picture of the data sheet that should be in your closet.

definitely a Deluxe though.
Does the furnace work?

Yes, this is the Trillium that was on the Boise craigslist. Called early Sunday morning and bought it sight unseen. The seller was pretty accurate in his description and seemed like a real honest person.

My title says 1978 but the vin is 451100401, which based on your list, looks like a '77. The data sheet is pretty shredded. I'll get some photos up soon.
Thanks

As is detailed in the serial number thread, Trillium manufactured trailers up to a year before they were sold. I can imagine that the owner of a new trailer would want to register it as a 1978, if that was the year that they bought it, even if it was manufactured in 1977.

I am pretty sure that my trailer that I call a 1973, is actually a 1972. This is based on the manufacture date stickers that some 1300's still have on the front of the trailer.

I am posting the details of your trailer in the serial number thread. I will add your trailer to the next revision. I hope that is OK.

Add it to the list

Sure, David, please add my 4500 to your serial number list.

Yes, I expect the trailer was listed as a '78 when it was sold, though manufactured in '77. Oddly I have a '79 MGB which was manufactured in November of '79, which should have been part of the 1980 production run. MGB production ended in March of 1980.
