new owner

Hello my wife and I recently purchased a 1988 Scamp 16. Anyone have any decorating ideas, experience with troubleshooting problems. Advice for new owners?

My advice is don't clutter it up.

I find most dive into decorating first, I did some of that too. It was a mistake. Finishing any/all structural/floor/leaks/etc. first is a better plan, as some of your decorating work will be sacrificed by doing the other work later. A 1988 trailer is over 30 years old, will probably need some work, unless the prior owner just finished it. I'd spend some time reading the various Scamp repair threads in the Scamp section. Top right of the page, click on Manufacturers and then select Scamp.

Go camping in your driveway first. That will give everything a test while you are near anything you forgot. Before any big trips, check the tire date code, I changed mine at three years, but others say five. Take it to a scale and see what it weighs, then you know how close you are to the limits of your tow vehicle. Have the wheel bearings re-packed and new wheel seals put in, that will also be the time to inspect the brakes. Are you new to the RV life, or just the Scamp? Have fun and welcome to the group.
We can help you with lots of ideas, we all enjoy spending other peoples’ money.
