New Owner of a 1990 Casita Patriot

Hi All,

Having recently bought my first 13ft travel trailer, I'm realizing that I've gotten myself into another vehicular pickle similar to my Jeep situation. I gather that the "Just Empty Every Pocket" principle will apply equally appropriately! Particularly considering that I'll be living in this baby for a month at the end of summer, and until today, it has been sitting (rotting?) in a Texas parking lot since 2002.

I felt fairly confident with my chores list (e.g., new tires, battery, water pump, repack bearings, figure out why the left turn signal/brake light filament won't fire, replace swollen and warped particle board throughout) until I hooked up to city water today, and found copious amounts of water soaking through the carpet from under the shower pan, closet, and pouring out a bottom vent. At least I can test out the AC as a dehumidifier... I think I've got myself a new hobby.

Matt, as a fellow J.E.E.P. / 13' Fiberglass RV owner, I can say that you will enjoy both equally well, especially now that you will be able to combine both into one activity. Welcome to the FGRV family. We lived in our for 62 days last summer, and traveled 9 thousand miles at the same time.

Hope to see you on the trail

Hi Matthew, to FiberglassRV. We're glad you're here

Hobby? Some may consider all molded towables an addiction!

A bunch of kind and helpful people are here to help. I'd suggests if you run into problems, to post one question per thread in the Problem Solving forum. Find and fix one problem and then move on to the next.

Best of luck!
