I just bought a 1973 Hunter Compact II and I’m going to need lots of advice with dos and don’ts to get it restored to as close to its former glory as possible. The shell itself is pretty intact but the insides are going to need some TLC

Other than a deep cleaning ( I’m just guessing)... what else does it need ??

It needs upgrades on all the “wood” parts including the support for the dinette/bed and the cupboards. I also need to check all the connections for battery and water and I want to figure out how to have a shower (even a modified sun shower) in the toilet.

I just watched a video by a couple of ladies who interviewed Frederick. He might be the same guy who is head admin. Anyway he built one right inside his door. He uses the kitchen faucet as the shower head with a removable plank in the floor. Attached a curtain all the way around. It’s brilliant. I’ll try and find the link.

Hi and welcome .
No matter what you do to restore your Compac Camper take photos before during and after the work . These will be of great value when your memory is in question about how anything is reassembled.
The front cover fiberglass panels can be removed and reversed in the frame if badly weathered. I did this with mine and after using a skim of car body filler painted the inside to match with RV white in a spray can. I could not find any panels anywhere to replace my originals .
I noticed the plastic trim strips are missing on your trailer .
The aluminum trim had a plastic strip inserted in the center (white or black most common ) Truck box caps and Rv's use this strip so you may find some where these caps are sold .
You will want to replace all propane fuel lines for safety due their age ! Unless you can confirm this has been done already ask a repair shop for help if you aren't sure about them . You may have to visit scrap yards for some usable items that are no longer available to replace items.

It came pretty much gutted except for some cabinet framing in the kitchen area. There isn't any where the table is or that area at all. I also need help on what to insulate it with and line it with. Please please any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

Your interior is stock and looks exactly like mine. It's the only other one I have seen with an oven. Have a wonderful time. We love ours and my parents loved it before me!

Sorry the links were not found in YouTube but thanks for trying! I’m just starting to demo the inside. I will try to get all before-and-after pics but the next thing I want to work on is getting the fridge out. I’ve done really well in the past with just a cooler and my friends experience with her fridge has been spotty at best. The problem seems to be when we go to altitude to escape the heat here in AZ and invariably the fridge stops working. Then I have an appointment with a repair place to redo the wiring and hoses and install solar capability. Stay tuned and thanks for all responses!
