New Scamp owner in Iowa

OK so we finally got the Scamp home. It will be a while until we use her, we need to pay for some work on the Jeep.

Now that I've had a good look (and I know what to look for) the trailer will need a new axle. I suspected that would be the case when I bought it. This will give me the chance to put brakes on it.

As for as equipment inside, this has :

a newer Iota Power Converter/Charger (forget model),

A old Suburban Model gt6-3a propane heater

A Newer Atwood drip-in gas cooktop

and a newer Norcold 3-way fridge, model 323tr

The PO never had a chance to use the heater. Is it worth it to get that checked out? Or rip it out for extra storage..(use a small ceramic and/or Olympian Cat. Heater)

But it is time to get this thing cleaned up. It should be good weather for my Wife to start scrubbin'

If your refrigerator does not work, I suggest you consider replacing it with a cooler. The simplicity of a cooler is something we love. We simply put a block of ice in the box, put in our food and we are on our way. If it's not too hot outside a block will last 4-5 days. Ice is readily available at most campgrounds. 'Just a thought.

Yes it may be worth just having the Furnace checked and cleaned out (little spider webs can stop it from working. Its something you may be able to do on your own. check the Documents section of this list there may be manual for the furnace.

thats a beauty. while i was in backus in march they had a 1973 model in for a complete new interior. for that price you did pretty good i'd say. i've not seen one in that kind of shape for such a good price.

If that is the furnace I think it is they are highly desired. Don't use any electric power, just propane. Keep your rig warm without running down your battery. I would keep it but I like the boondocks and rustic campgrounds more than some.

If you decide you don't want it someone will quickly take it off your hands if you post it as available.

BTW - Thanks for those battery pictures. On my scamp there is not room for a battery behind the propane tank unless tank is moved forward. Move tank forward and it is in the way of the crank handle for the jack.

Either have to shorten handle making it harder to crank or replace hitch and put in side crank handle jack that mounts through hitch. I would like to do that and change to 2" ball but all those parts and welding start to add up to where it looms large on financial radar. Think I can do the side mount you have on the cheap.
