New to the Gathering house of fiber dudes and dudettes

Hi all, just committed to a purchase of an escape 17. We are retired, and healthy and ready to hook it up and see some planet surface.
Our Escape, is due to pickup late June.
We will now have to make design and product choices.
Would love to hear dos and don't's on this endeavor.
Hope to bump into some of you, once we hookup in Chilliwick BC.
We plan on a trip to Alaska immediately therafter, but think we should camp a few days nearby and test out the products.

Agreed?

Welcome to FGRV Bob. Congrats to the new rig. I think it's a good idea to do a bit of camping and shake down before you head north. Get to know the new squeeze....so to speak .

Welcome, Bob!

Escape is a bit like Heinz ketchup. I'm remembering the old ad jingle, "Anticipation is makin' you wait..."

Good times ahead!

Hello Bob! Fun times ahead. My best suggestion is for you to join the Escape Trailer Owners Community. Lots of folks there that have worked on build sheets in the past and more working on them now. You'll get lots of suggestions about options, etc.

Other than that... if you're looking at custom upholstery, start looking NOW. It took me a full five months of daily effort to find the one I wanted and I had to have it shipped from Hawaii! ETI will need your upholstery at least three months before your scheduled completion date.

Best of luck!

Welcome! Congrats on your decision and your health and your plans!

DonnaD's rig that we saw looks super...

Fabric choice always important.

A shakedown cruise is absolutely desirable. We've been out five times since our first outing in July and each trip was still a kind of shakedown. We look forward to a point where we come home and don't have a long list of changes and rearrangements!

BEST
Kai

Interesting. I ordered my 17B a month go and my completion date is Oct. 9. I wonder what's going on with that? Even my build sheet date is in July. I know they've been moving dates up, but not that much.

To Clarify,
We committed last July 1st with money down. At that time, we had to wait until next July. recently, ETI offered to let us have it earlier, as their production capabilities have apparently been expanded.
It is nice to be ordering a product with demand.
Have a great camp!

Ah, okay. From your opening post I thought you had just ordered.
Their expansion is progressing well and a lot of folks are having their completion dates moved up. I wouldn't mind moving mine up a bit, and kind of expect it.
