newbees looking for FGRV
My wife and I are looking at trailering after sailing for many years. We are looking for something light to tow with our existing vehicle; Ford Escape, max 2000 lb. Toilet and shower, air conditioning, fridge and stove are some of the amenities on our wish list. Is there anything available that would work for us? Thanks, Paul and Margo.

Welcome, Paul!
The 2000 pound towing capacity pretty much limits you to a 13' trailer. Scamp and Casita both make 13' front bath models.
Are you looking to buy new or used?

Wanting a "Toilet and a Shower" and being under 2000 lbs. really limits your possible choices. Take a look here at typical weights and you will see that even 13'ers can exceed your towing limit.

For the most part, under 2000 lbs. means a porta-potty and either an outside shower panel or the campground showers. Tell us more about your requirements.

Thanks everyone, this gives us a place to start. We are looking for used. I think an on demand water heater would save some weight. Holding tank may be an issue if we camp without facilities for a few days. We will see what 13 ft. floorplans are out there.
P&M.

We used a 13' scamp standard using a small porta potty (for night emergencies)for many years and kept the filled weight down to 1100lbs! Housed 4 adults n 4 big dogs one weekend! We even towed it with a vw diesel TDI beetle! Too adorable! You can do it!

WOW, an 1100 lb Scamp going down the road? They must have built them a lot lighter in the past. Was that an actual scale weight?
Even scamp now fesses up to the 13' Standard starting at 1200 lbs

It weighed 8-900 lbs. empty--their advertised weight in 85. We figured 1100 with it loaded, no water in tank. It can be done!

When Scamp posted that weight it was allegedly for a trailer with no options, no stove, refrigerator, furnace, LP tank, battery, converter etc. Their current advertised weight for a standard 13' is listed as 1200-1500 lbs.
But remember, "Everything is Bigger in Texas" so that will add a bit as well...LOL

That's all that matter's Bill. Some of us realize that any of the vehicles mentioned above would easily handle your small egg.
PS, assuming you had it set up optimally.

We are also looking for a used 13' trailer to pull behind Subaru Forester. We can probably go as highas $8000. I am new to this site, so don't know how to pull up the ones for sale.
