Newbie on the campground!!!

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I'm new to this site. My wife and I just bought a 1973 Compact II and we love the little camper. I joined the site to get a better basic understanding of the camper and its place of origin. I do have some plans to modernize it, but keep it as vintage as possible. This site has already been very helpful with some of the issues we’ve experienced already. Thanks and I hope to see you around the camp fire.

Thanks!!

James,
Panama City Beach, Florida

Welcome James. Make generous use of the Search site /Google box in the search pull down. There is a lot of information here.

Hi James, welcome! Congrats on your little trailer. My husband and I got a '74 Hunter 1 a month ago, we named it "Tidbit". This forum has been great, lots of friendly, knowledgeable folk willing to help. We aren't keeping ours vintage, the original cabinets are too beat up and I gotta say I hate that paneling and plastic trim. Eventually we will replace the tuck and roll with something more insulated but it is in good shape. We are going comfortable with a nod to the '70s in some decorating. We will be taking our unfinished but still usable trailer to a Fiberglass Gathering this weekend. The biggest challenge is going to be putting all the stuff we had in our vintage 15' canned ham trailer into this much smaller trailer.

Use the bottom slot top input the search terms - much better than the top.

Hey James, to FiberglassRV!

I like old skool and vintage! Heck, I'M vintage

BUT as you're looking to modernize with better, safer stuff.... just remember, 99.9% of the people who see your trailer have NEVER seen a Compact II before and won't know what's original, NOS, or brand new stuff. It's not like anyone has ever said "Look Gladys... a [brand] with original tail lights or curtains. It's NOT a Model "T." You own it, make it your own! It's about YOUR comfort and needs and a whole lot less about what other people think.

Best of luck
