Newbie Shoppong for One
Howdy from Texas!
Down-sizing from camping with my horses and my bigger truck camper to smaller and simpler would love a Scamp or Casita. Prefer wetbath and small but would consider larger with wetbath.
Just me here but I do have grands so maybe they might go on a trip or two but not likely often.

Welcome! You can get a wet bath in the smallest 13' size, but for extra sleeping space for the grandkids, you will probably want one of the larger 16-17' units. Realize that lengths for all the molded fiberglass models include the tongue and bumper. The cabin is about 3' less.
Will you be towing with your truck, or are you downsizing the vehicle as well?
If you're shopping used, finding one is a challenge. In addition to this site, there are Facebook groups for Scamps and Casitas, as well as the general Craigslist and FB Marketplace. For Scamp try "Scamp Travel Trailers" and "Scamp Classifieds." Both are private groups to limit spam and scams, so you'll have to join to view the ads. I don't keep up with Casita, but I know there are several.

Jon ,
Thank you for you helpful info. I already know what you have said. Do you work for Casita?
And no I do not want bigger. Only in the case of an older model that fits my price. Not sure why you want to know about.my truck/camper but it is in my post. Downsizing- yes I am selling both as a package when I get them ready since I have been using them they need to be ready to sell not camp in.

I don’t work for Casita. I’m a Scamp owner myself, and I would personally lean that direction, but they’re both great trailers. Casitas are easier to find in your region.
I asked about the truck because I was wondering whether there were any constraints on your tow rating that would affect your trailer choices.
I suggested the 16’ or 17’ size because you mentioned “grands,” which I took as plural. A 13’ with a wet bath is a 2-person trailer. If you only travel with one at a time, you’d be fine.
Best wishes with your search!

My apologies, it's difficult because it seems there are so many people that are frequently out to find what they can get from me or my inquiry. I appreciate that. You only were out to benefit me and help me. Thank you so much. I mean, truly thank you. No I do not want a larger treather. And yes, I will sell my truck/camper because it is time for a change. I no longer camp with my horses, as I have sold all of my horses and no longer camp with them only camp. Hello, so I do not need the large truck with the camper on top and it is showing its age. It's time to move on to something smaller and more reliable. I love a casita. I agree with you. A 13 foot is best for me, but I must have a wet bath and bathroom at my age. My grandkids likely will not go with me. It would be a rare occasion if they did, however, our son does own hunting property in oklahoma, which is where we often go camping on his property. so truly, I'm on the hunt for a 13 foot casita or scamp. An older model would fit into my budget, and also I will have to find the vehicle to tow it because I have a jeep renegade which will not pull anything above two thousand pounds. that's my full story, and I thank you so much for being transparent, kind, generous and reaching out with full intent only to help me. I apologize for being less than shall we say expecting the best out of you, Jon, I truly appreciate you!Shall we keep in touch? on another note I have a few casita campers in Texas. That I need to go look at after. I sell my tractor and a few larger items here on my farm. That my son is helping me with. So that's the good news. I have some cash coming in with things sell. Thank you for your interest and your kindness

Scamp has made far more 13’ers than Casita, and Casita 13’ers with wet baths are even rarer, so Scamp is your likeliest target for a 13’ with bath. Keep your eyes open, though, and expect to pay around $15K for a used one (older but not vintage) in the current market, good condition, everything working. Once you get down to $10K or less, you’re possibly looking at a project that could end up costing more in the long run unless you’re handy and can make all the repairs yourself.
I agree a Renegade is not going to be enough vehicle for a 13' with wet bath. They generally weigh between 1800-2200# fully loaded and provisioned. Casitas tend to run a bit heavier than comparable Scamps. I'd recommend a minimum 2500/250# trailer/tongue rating, and 3500/350# or higher gives you additional margin for severe towing conditions (steep grades, headwinds...). Trailer brakes are essential for a smaller vehicle, and not all 13'ers have them.
Here’s another lead on a 13' Casita with wet bath I recently posted in the referral section. It’s local to me and appears to be still available, but I have no personal connection and I’m not pushing anything. Just happened to see a rare model and passed it on. Casita stopped making the 13’ers in 2015.

Scamp thoughts
I am sure Casitas are fine but I do t think they make a 13'. I may be wrong.
I understand about the wet bath needs. Our Scamp is a 13'... not for sale but it has the little couch we actually use quite often. Our 13' is perfect for us.
If i had a 16' I would want the little side table set up but that's just me. We are mostly outside but can adjust our bed into a table fast when weather interrupts a meal.
Know you may hear how the sleep area has too firm a spot to comfortably sleep. It really has to be firm if you ever use ot as seating and a table area...otherwise, too soft, you'd end up on hard fiberglass! How we manage that is we already had our tent air mattresses
( thermarest...very compact and self inflating... other brands are out there, too) and we use our sleeping bags. On e a tent camper, always a tent camper! So, moving these to our little seating area is a snap if a storm is brewing or wind kicks up. Just know there are tons of options to adjust this.
We love our little 13'... we can camp anywhere a tent does!
Good luck!

They don’t now, but they did until c. 2015. Check out the link in my earlier post to see what one looks like. Compared to Scamp, they sold relatively few 13'ers. Scamp dominates that segment.
Tent sites... almost anywhere. A number of the state parks we frequent have a section of walk-in tent sites where you park in a central vehicle lot and carry your gear into your campsite. My favorite is Ridgeway State Park in Colorado. The walk-in tent sites are located across a pedestrian bridge over the Uncompahgre River, so the only sound you hear is the rushing river!

Casita has a new 15' Patriot Deluxe which has a wet bath and the ability to make either a 32" or 60" wide bed (Casita's old 13' model was also called a Patriot). I could see that being a real nice option for someone who mostly travels solo but might occasionally need space for a loved one they feel comfortable sharing a bed with.
Most 13' trailers have a 44" or 54" bed (and the more bed you have, the less "living room" space you have, which is already quite limited in a 10' space that also includes a wet bath). Having a couple extra feet of trailer and more versatility with the bed could be really nice for folks for whom a 13' feels a bit cramped and limited, but don't want to bump all the way up to a larger 16-17' trailer.
Aside from the new 15' Casita Patriot, I'm pretty sure all the other options out there are 13' or 16'+.

Thank you for your advice. I don't want a larger size. My grandkids are grown except one. So it's just me. 13' with wet bath is all I need. But I need it in Texas . And yes, I am buying a bigger truck to tow.
