Our '76 Trillium finally done!

Hello all,

We bought our first trailer at the end of last summer and I gutted it completely this spring. It was a huge process for me but I managed to get it finished just in time for our first trip to the volcanoes of Washington State. The kids have already nicknamed her "Kermi" and they have fallen in love with it just like my wife and I have.
I used this site extensively so thank you for all who post. Here is a list of what I did:

-removed all appliances and replaced with a new dometic fridge
-repaired fiberglass holes and sanded/bondoed for a week straight
-new paint job (retro green but not a color match to original)
-frame repaired and a custom table slide mounted underneath
-new wiring lighting inside and out
-new cushions and fabric
-new posts to accommodate a bunk bed rail
-new water tank
-new sink with city water and pump water
-new bamboo table and coutertop and outside table
-new carefree awning
-new front window rock guard
-completely repaired all windows with many hours of scrubbing with autosol, finding and replacing all seals, removing every screw and replacing with stainless, and then replacing all wood in the frame and lastly the butyl.
-new cabinet doors
-new 14" rims and tires
-new decals
-new cork flooring
-new curtains

I think that is about it. We are super happy, I hope you like the pictures

Great restoration.

You mentioned you painted it a similar green colour but not original - what is the new colour - I like it.

Also what is that shelf with angles supports on your countertop?

Thanks,

Phil

Nice job Chris! Kermi brings back memories of our first new 1975 Trillium.Same colour too. Makes me want to go back to that time. We did so much travelling with ours. It became our home away from home as I'm sure yours will. Enjoy! After all that work you deserve to. Happy trails! Dennis & Linda

Phil the angle supports come from IKEA in their kitchen department. As for the green color, it was just a stock green from vancouver auto color. I don't think it had a name but if you were serious about it I could dig up the number and info for it.

Chris, a hint... you do want to know precisely the paint code number and brand of paint. Put it in your trailer file. I hope you never need it, but if a time comes for a repair, you'll be glad you have it. (Don't ask me how I know this...)

Thanks Donna,
I do have the paperwork in my file but it just isn't organized. For those looking for some trillium parts I put all the stuff I didn't use on the classifieds section. I just sold all the vinyl trim but other things are there like the bargman L-300 lock.

Great job! I really like the only slight modifications you have done and kept a lot of the originality. Did you order your new decals, tire cover, side access and such online or a place near you? I am just in the midst of trying to clean and fix mine up.

Again great job and your color is like the original color of my '73 trillium. :0)

Hi Heidi,

I got all the decals, mudflaps, tire cover from Tom at trilliumrv.com. He doesn't get back to you right away but I found dealing with him quite easy. The stuff isn't cheap but I just had to do it after all the work I put into it. Be very careful putting the stickers on as it is a one shot deal and if you screw it up it is hard to correct the problem. As for the other stuff I simply got it from local rv shops and dealers. I also bought a lot of stuff online and had it shipped to a mailing center in the states (maybe not useful to you being in Saskatchewan). Let me know if you need any other info as I milked these pages when I was going through my reno.

Looks great. I love the green/red colour combination that works with the red of the decals.

Our Boler fridge--the original--doesn't cool well anymore. Thinking about replacing it with electric model as we never run it on propane. Did you disconnect the original propane lines yourself? Were there any problems installing the Domestic fridge?

Do you have a fuse box/breaker panel in the trailer? Curious because our Boler doesn't have one.

Where did you buy the bamboo for the table top? Perhaps this is a dumb question but is it sturdy enough to sleep on? (Our table is VERY heavy and a pain to put up and down.) Is the outside table also bamboo?

Thanks! Great pictures, BTW

Our fridge is the smallest one made by Dometic and it is a 3 way as we like to use propane when not hooked up, we use 12V when driving, and 120 when plugged in. I did not feel comfortable installing it myself as it must vent properly to the outside. I had a local RV company (Escape Trailers) install it for me. Let me know if you need the exact model number.
I do have a converter and breaker panel that was installed with all the new wiring.
The bamboo is hard to find but can be bought or ordered through specialty wood stores. It is a plywood but I love the way it looks. It is however crazy expensive and only can be bought in a full sheet (4'x8') which was ok for me as I did two tables and a countertop. Definitely strong enough to sleep on.

Chris

Off camping on friday for a week. Hope everyone is enjoying their trailers this summer
