Rare one for sale ‘66 Royal Traveler

This is pretty cool. If was closer I’d probably snatch it up. Axle seams set kind of far back.

That same trailer appeared on Phoenix Craigslist several months ago. Same photo. So, either someone bought it to resell, or someone bit off more than they could chew, or something hinky is going on. Ad disappeared quickly last time around, too.

For those that missed out, don't feel too bad. It's not fiberglass, as we know it. It's made of a product called Royalex (like used in canoes). DaveK had one: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ily-34801.html

Rare one for sale ‘66 Royal Traveler

Royalex is deformable and can return to its original shape with the application of heat. If you're in the habit of backing into trees and utility posts, this just might be the trailer for you.

Don't know how that characteristic might be degraded with long-term UV exposure, the bane of many plastics.

Downsides are (1) it's heavier than a similar sized fiberglass trailer, and (2) it's less rigid, so it needs help from ribs on the roof and the interior cabinetry.

My buddy wrapped his Royalex canoe around a rock. Instant Jello.
The Royalex stretched and I don't think it ever looked normal again.

No it probably wouldn't, and I'm guessing he had to buy all-new gunwales and other bits.
