Returning to Fiberglass RV

Well, actually I never left but this seemed to be the best place to tell the story. We had a 2009 Casita FD that we bought new. Although we rally enjoyed it a put more than 20,000 miles on it, it became too snall. We sold it and bought a 35' class A with two slides.

Yah I know, those big beasts cannot go everywhere a nimble fiberglass RV can. We are keeping the class A, but this week purchased the 1970 Trails West Campster advertised on this forum. We plan to use it for those quick trips where the effort and gas of the beast are just not worth it.

It is 46 years old and was advertised as maybe needing some improvements, but quite frankly, it meets our needs as is. It's clean and in good condition. It is definately not original - propane has been removed, the tongue has been extended by 2 feet and a solar panel has been added, but that's ok.

Part of my vision is to make it into a mobile ham shack mounting a couple of antennas on that extended tongue and seeing if the battery and solar panels will provide sufficient power to operate "off the grid".

We will plan on seeing some of you again at upcoming rallies, probably next spring.

I will post my own pictures when I get the chance but the ones in the add are pretty good.
