The begining of a Pearl

Hi All: My name is Jeff and my wife Roz and I just purchased a 73 Boler manufactured in Winnipeg. It is in good condition and we have enthusiastically started on a full renovation. I have been reading through everyone’s post and love the wealth of knowledge. The one thing I can’t find is where to find a replacement U seal for the Jalousie window glass. This is the seal that is around the glass edge and squeezed into the aluminum extrusion. I have contacted Vintage RV and sent photos and dimensions and they are unable to help. I have one broken glass pane and a damaged seal so any advise is appreciated. The trip home to Edmonton from Calgary went well and our Pearl has now displaced Roz's car in the garage. What a great understanding wife.

Nice little trailer!

Per the seals: How about posting the pics etc. you sent to the vintage folks- some of us might recognize the seal you're talking about and be able to point you in the right direction...

Thanks for the help. I also need all the other window seals and figure if I find this one they should have the others.

There's a whole youtube series on the subject of restoring jalousie windows...what this guy doesn't know prolly isn't worth knowing.
It's broken up into pretty small chapters, but is well worth a look!

Here's part 1:

You are correct lots of good information in the videos.
Do you know where to buy the replacement U seal for the Boler Jalousie window glass.
In the video he mentioned Wolfsberwest they sell VW seal kits only.
I am sure someone out there has rebuilt the Boler Jalousie windows and replaced all the seals. All my gray rubber seals are hard and dry.

You may have to settle for something that though not exactly like the original, will do the job. I think you've already looked at Vintage Trailer Supply...but you might take a second look at the page for the "Jalousie J-seal".

The second customer comment there says:

Comments about Jalousie J-Seal:
Worked perfectly as a replacement seal for the jalousie windows in my 1977 13 ft Boler

Smile You're looking for a rubber extrusion

Try this:
RUBBER EXTRUSIONS, u channels, sponge rubber extrusions, L strips, p strips, e channels rubber, solid rubber extrusions, u channels with bulb, d bumpers rubber, half rounds, round rubber, H channels, extrusions wing bumpers, extruded dock bumpers, ex
No, it is not the rubber company used by Wiley Coyote! LOL

Some of the VW campers had Jalousie windows. They might not be identical, but close enough to work. I worked on a customer's '71 camper with them. Also check out The Samba.com for camper parts.

WolfsbergWest is one of the suppliers of parts, both NOS and reproduction, for older VWs, including campers.

Sometimes you have to be creative on older vehicles when looking for parts.

When you find a solution, please.. please post where you bought it and parts numbers. Others in your situation would greatly appreciate it
