Tom & Trish from Petaluma, California

Hi, we're Tom and Trish from Petaluma, California. Years ago when we lived in San Diego, we towed a dune buggy to the desert most weekends with our 26' Jamboree class C. We've been in Petaluma for 26 years without an RV, but we recently purchased an Escape 5.0 TA fifth wheel and a Ford F-150 to tow it. That's a great combination, they're made for each other.

We look forward to meeting you somewhere on the road!

Welcome back to the RV world, and to the molded fiberglass family! Yours is a very popular combination, and for good reason. Do you have the 2.7EB?

We bought the truck and trailer together, and the truck has the 3.5EB engine. Towing back from Minnesota where we bought them, it was such easy driving that it was hard to tell the trailer was back there.

Nice! Definitely some overkill going on with that engine choice. That's good unless you're also using it for daily commuting. Does it have max towing and/or max payload? I'd think the latter would be nice with a fifth wheel. No worries about adding gear or passengers.

Jon, we mostly use the F-150 for towing the Escape, never commuting. It came with the 6800# GVWR package, and RoadActive suspension which keeps the bed level when towing and smooths out the ride loaded or empty. Trish says it has the best ride of any of our vehicles!

We looked at a nearby Escape 5.0 before we purchased, and that owner had towed it for years behind a Tacoma. The 3.5L is certainly more than required but is nice to have through the mountains. And when I haul half-yards of gravel home for the RV pad. ;-)
