Totally Newbie

We bought our first RV a few weeks ago. It's a Gulfstream Yellowstone Cruiser. Our first camping trip is set for June 13 to Bonham State Park. I've been watching a bunch of You Tube videos to prepare and I'm sure that we will get plenty of encouragement on this forum. We're excited to begin this adventure.

Well, I hope so.. but this site is focused on molded fiberglass trailers which are built more like boats than the more common camping trailer. Of course many of the systems inside are similar so you can still learn a lot here. And many members have owned or are familiar with many types of camping trailers of differing construction. In fact many started with other types and "graduated" to the molded fiberglass classification, so they can still be a big help.

But since yours is not a molded fiberglass unit you might want to check out a few other forums in addition to this one. Two that come to mind:

and

Thanks

Thanks for the information, Gordon. When I joined the group, we were looking at buying a Casita. We decided that it was just too small for us. This one is fiberglass panels. I will check out the other forums you mentioned.

How about an Oliver then? I mean you do have an extra $67,000 sitting around don't you?

So yes.. molded fiberglass camping trailers are small and expensive. Sometimes very expensive. They might be a good value, but are not for everyone.

One more suggestion I might make.. depending on where you want to take the camper. With COVID, many thousands of people are doing just what you did... buying an RV to vacation safely with social distancing. So the good camping sites fill up fast and in some cases you need to try and book a site within minutes when the booking window opens. In fact some of my favorite places were like that even before COVID. The concept of just deciding on the spur of the moment to hit the road with no planning does not work out well in many areas of the county (like the east coast). It might be better in Texas and the mid-west, but be prepared to be needing to prepare for your trips.
