Towing Scamp 13

Julie, one additional factor you should probably consider is how many people and how much cargo you will be taking with you. While a number of people do tow 13' eggs very happily with Elements and CRVs, their 1500 pound capacity is marginal. If you will be traveling with more than one or two people, or bringing a lot of extra stuff, I think you will be much happier in the larger vehicle.

We own both a CRV and a Pilot (previously a Sienna van), but with four people, bicycles, outdoor kitchen, extra icebox, awning, plus mountain and canyon grades to deal with, we've never tried to tow with the CRV. If it were just my wife and I packing lightly, the CRV would probably be fine.

Just to clarify, CVT stands for "continuously variable transmission." Honda does not use a CVT in the Odyssey. Honda refers to the cylinder cut-off system as VCM, which stands for "variable cylinder management." VCM is standard on all new Odysseys and Pilots.

Thanks to all who responded to my question. Right after getting all the responses we saw a 13', 2014 Scamp for sale North of Detroit so we called & arranged to see it. Drove the next day ( 325 miles each way) to see it & purchased & drove it back the next day using our CR-V. No problems with towing with our CR-V. We would not have tried with our CR-V without the input from all of you because we weren't sure if it was enough to pull the Scamp. So... We are now Scamp owners, thanks to all of you who responded to our question. Again, many thanks & see you on the road!
