I had an Old Town Otter 13' canoe made from Royalex. It weighed a lot more than a comparable
fiberglass canoe. If you bashed it on a rock, it left dents in the surface. A buddy wrapped his canoe around a rock and the Royalex stretched. Very difficult to repair. Don't know that the material is used for canoes any more.
