Uhaul Noob
Hi everyone....My name is Pat & I was directed over here by another member, we are also members over at the Honda Element Owners group....anyway,
my father in law recently gave us his old 13' uhaul trailer & we are thrilled...I spent all weekend gutting the interior to make room for new flooring, new wiring, and possibly some new upholstery....she's in very good shape for her age, missing only the original furnace. (if anyone has any leads, let me know!)
Of course, this thread would be useless without pics so here are a few:
I own a sign/decal company, so I will be reproducing all of the original decals in the OG colors, so stay tuned for that & other updates!
I just ordered a bunch of spares from uhaul, just in case, & look forward to reading & posting in these forums! Pat

I've never seen the inside of a U-haul gutted.... any pics?
Congrats on the new trailer. When I had a U-haul (briefly), I was talking to my local vinyl graphics person about re-doing the decals too - that would look great.

Welcome Pat! I feel like we're cousins, as I'm a member of the EOC, too (as well as the Ridgeline Club)!
Love your UHaul! Can't wait to see what you do to it! You are really making progress already!

Vickie, we're absolutely cousins....Ive got an element, a ridgeline & now the uhaul...... lolz
I'll post some pics on the weekend....Its pretty dark when I get home from work & the trailer is out back on a patio with no lights...
by "gut" I mean I've pulled all the curtains, cushions, wiring, water lines, water tanks, carpet & all the crap that was stores in the cabinets/cubbies.
I ordered a bunch of stuff from uhaul today, dug up some wood laminate flooring at work, & got started on the artwork for duplicating all the oem decals. So far I've completed the "nose" decals & the "camper" text for the sides.
I'm gonna have to order some weather stripping & re-do all the windows, as the current stuff is rotted out pretty good....roof fan & vent are already new, just wanna pickup a vent cover from ebay or something.. lots to do.

Nice, I also have a Uhaul Ct-13, there might be a few folks over at the Uhaul forums that might be interested in a set of original decals, if you were willing to make and sell them, some of the folks there like to restore them to original condition.

Hey Pat - welcome aboard- I just bought my CT 13 this summer and absoultly love her. Put new curtains-flooring - thinking about fixing the furnace and adding another electrical outlet for the microwave- it gets a bit addicting-but fun-
You'll find this site very helpfull and friendly-
I'd love to get hooked up with decals-let me know if your thinking about selling any-Lynne

Welcome Pat.
One was just posted in the pay it forward forum. That means it's free, you pay for shipping and make a donation to the board.

Welcome, Pat,
I would be totally interested in a decal set, but I need loooooong stripes as I have a VT
it looks like the existing decals are black?? Is it just a trick of the light, or lack of light?
Regards,
Matt

Matt, The current stripes are hunter green, as my fatherinlaw was towing with a hunter green rav 4...... I think I'm going back to the OEM orange/black/gold stripes..... Once I have all the artwork done, I'll be able to manipulate it to work with the VT as well......as long as a VT owner is willing to send me detailed pics with accurate dimensions.... Pat

So were those custom hunter green U-Haul stripes? I'd love to see it in a daylight photo before you peel!

yeah, the hunter green stripes were installed by a sign company in kentucky... they tried to copy the original layout, but didn't match the original font on the "camper" and added the uhaul logo across the back end, instead of plain striping.
I have some old pics, but will definitely take new ones before it gets stripped & re-lettered....I doubt I'll get to it before spring, I've got a 3 month old little girl keeping us busy at night....

That's great! I think with some exposure adjustment that photo #2 is home page material
