Wall carpet (Casita) and raining into windows
The biggest issue I have with Casita interior covering is when raining and windows are open water comes inside. Anyone know of a deflector that can be attached to fend off water.

A roof vent fan that has a shroud that allows the vent to be open when it is raining is of benefit in such situations. You can still have fresh air without things getting wet.

I installed a marine solar-powered roof vent that is superb because it allows air to exit even when there is no sun to operate the fan. Mine has a storage battery so that it will operate 24/7 (sunlight required to recharge battery) but its plus is the fact that it’s marine and has a flange to keep out the rain.
The next post will show the box with info.

The fan box. Not cheap but worth every penny to keep down the moisture during normal breathing plus allowing excess moisture to escape on rainy days.

I meant the windows on the trailer not the top vent.

I think they're saying if you have a top vent, you can keep the trailer windows closed when it's raining.
Once upon a time there was a great window vent product that several of us installed on at least one Casita window... but it's no longer made/available, as far as I know. Here's an older thread about them, along with a couple other ideas:

This is one reason the old style jalousie windows are so treasured on the vintage trailers.
Without some kind of window awning, you will get rain coming in if the window is open on the slider type windows in a Casita (and many other brands of trailers). And if the rain comes with heavy wind, then an awning may not be very practical.

Rain Deflector
There are some great ideas presented. I am mostly interested in deflecting water coming off the roof. Tried finding those deflectors you see on cars with sunroofs and attaching with double sided tape but can't find one wide enough. The plexiglass one that was suggested seems to be the simplist solution. Also the one at the Elkhart place.

I love this redirect. Especially the one where the fellow used his ingenuity and fitted a marine window set of louvres. I hate to harp but sometimes the marine store is the place to visit (albeit not in a landlocked area). I’ve found an interesting assortment of items not carried in RV stores.

I installed two window vents on my Casita back in 2015
When I purchased them from LHC they were the last ones Larry G had in stock
Worked great , why they were discontinued I can’t tell you

I have seen that product and it would keep most moisture and all the dirt out. May go with that if I can't find something that covers more. Thanks

Hi John, I don't know if this might work for you but Vintage Trailer Supply has aluminum drip caps that come in a number of sizes if you're looking at just deflecting water flow off the roof.

Plexiglass sheet. Masking tape across the top to hold it in place and to seal. A Small wood strut with velcro on the tips. Works very very well.

We used these flexible, self-adhesive drip rails on our 1994 Award 23, and they did work fairly well. We now have purchased a 2011 Casita 17 SD and may try them again. Nice that they do not require drilling any holes in the side of the trailer.
