2018 Casita SD value?

Hi all,

We are looking to part with our Casita and are wondering if we can get some opinions on a reasonable value? Looking to purchase a Bigfoot down the road.

2018 SD
Options:
Furnace
Outside wash station
Range cover 2 burner
High lift suspension
TV antenna w/ amplifier
Cable ready
Little House customs modifications:
Scissor Jacks - front & rear
Receiver hitch
Anderson cut off
Vent modification
Also has a Calmark cover

Has been waxed 2x per year and covered since new.

Very, very good condition.

Thank you in Advance!

It is a seller's market right now. Asking prices vary widely, but many are well above historical norms. It's impossible to know what they are actually selling for, but the most reasonably priced ones appear to sell quickly.

I'd suggest studying the current ads and recent archives for other Casita 17's at www.fiberglass-rv-4sale.com. Set your asking price somewhere in between the highest and lowest according to location and how long you're willing to wait for a buyer.

Looking for an ultra light tandem axel unit.

My tow vehicle has a 500 lb tongue weight an 5000 GVW limit. Does this unit meet those requirements?

The Casita is a single axle. Other than that it meets your requirements.

As Jon mentioned, yes. If memory serves....tongue weight is around 300lbs, and dry is a little over 2000. We pulled with a V6 4Runner which sounds about like your tow vehicle. I notice you are in CA, we are in TX.

Fully loaded weights tend to be north of 3000# and tongue weights a little over 400#. Dry weights for 17’ deluxe models as spec’d by Casita are 2480# and 365# (before options).

You can find scaled, on-the-road weights of various makes and models in the thread “Trailer Weights in the Real World” in the General Chat section. Post #297 links to a handy spreadsheet. There are a number of Casita 17D’s in the database.

At least in all-molded fiberglass, most of the relatively few tandem axle units currently offered wouldn’t quality as “ultralight”. The Escape 19 is the only one that just might qualify,. On the other hand, the Casita 17 is a very popular single axle molded trailer.

A Casita SD17 should be about 2750 lbs dry plus options, so figure roughly 3000lbs.

Go to the Facebook page, Casita owners- RV Classifieds
You’ll need to join the group but you can view lots of current ads and sold ones- from there you’ll get a good idea of the current market. BTW, we recently sold ours on that site in hours for our asking price. The demand is extremely high. Now we are impatiently waiting on delivery of our BF in a couple weeks!
