Average Selling Price for a 2005 Scamp 5th Wheel

We're looking at 2005 Scamp since our 1993 13 Scamp isn't that comfortable & has no AC. We were wondering what a fair or average price we would be offering.

It looks to be in good condition except for a spot on the right front with fiberglass damage. It looks like someone used some white spray paint underneath. The only other thing I didn't like was the wheels. They mentioned that they put on larger tires. When I look up this model Scamp I don't see the same style windows. Is this a problem?

Thank you for your thoughts.

I’ve never seen a square window Scamp before.

1) I would give Scamp a call and confirm with them if they ever sold with square windows. They were super helpful for me with information during my (used) buying process, and have continued to be an amazing resource as I use and maintain my ‘91 19.

2) I would worry about stress on the fiberglass at the window corners. Those sharp edges are stress concentrators. Unfortunately it’s really hard to spot fiberglass damage (eg interlayer delamination) short of a catastrophic failure

Wish I could help with valuation, but I haven’t seen any good resources. A few years ago (2019) nearly all the Scamp 19s I saw listed were nearly $10k. Having said that - a fair number seemed to be sitting on the market for a while at that price. When I was looking at RV insurance they said the NADA valuation was <$2k ….

I know that they did but not sure of the years. If the vin on the RV matched the vin on the paperwork I'd call it OK. If you call Scamp I'd like to know the answer.

The black full jalousies were an extra-cost option in the 90’s and early 00’s. Not sure what year they started, but they ended with the 2006 factory fire. I doubt they will affect resale value significantly one way or the other, if anything a slight positive.

Value is hard to assess right now as we’re transitioning from a strong seller’s market to one that’s more balanced. Best I can recommend is to look for comps on all the Scamp and fiberglass listing sites. Adjust for your location, condition, and how quick a sale you’re wanting.

Not sure about the wheels, but check the axle mounts and make sure they’re aligned with the frame. There was a problem with 16’ and 19’ axles around that time where the mounting brackets did not match the frame. A few actually broke loose.

Yup, they’re factory, as I described in the previous post. .

Yup, the square corners are more vulnerable to stress cracks. Prevention involves pulling the windows, drilling a small hole in each corner, and re-installing with fresh butyl. They’re probably due for resealing anyway.
