Buying a Scamp in about a year (fingers crossed)

There was a flap this year over eliminating the small front window in front bath models in favor of a power vent. The change was made between the time orders were placed and the trailers manufactured, and buyers were not made aware. To Scamp's credit, they did offer (under pressure from a disgruntled buyer) to retrofit the window in one case, and, after further consideration (and input from members here) the buyer decided to pass on the offer.

To be fair, manufacturers do it all the time. "Specifications subject to change without notice" is in the fine print in most sales brochures and purchase contracts.

In my mind the slow updating of Scamp's literature and website is somewhat of a problem, since they do make small, incremental changes fairly often. Not much gets by the sharp eyes and ears of the members of this forum though… whatever it is, I saw it here first!

Reply to CarolH...sorry for the name confusion, strictly my oversight. The splash guard is not a part of the stove. As I understand it from Scamp, the splash guard is a piece of white fiberglass inserted between the counter top and the window frame above the stove area. As I said earlier, many people have used many different materials to achieve the same purpose, as a DIY project at very little cost. I have seen some of them on the Scamp Owners International website, SOI Scamp Travel Trailer | Events | Forum | Resources | Scamp Owners International with pictures.

I thought you might be referring to mud flaps that go on the TV, or add-on shields to go on the lower front corners of the trailer to catch the rocks and mud thrown up by the TV/
But, I see other are talking about a "back-Splash panel to cover the rat fur on the wall behind or next to the stove.
I made splash guard/heat shields in our Scamp 16 Dlx, using enameled aluminum sheet from a hardware store.

I am a redneck I guess. My scamp stove "back splash guard" is the same aluminum cookie sheet I put over the stove when not in use.

When stoves not in use, baking pan/cookie sheet acts as a stove topper or cover for sitting things squarely upon. While cooking, I flip it up and rest it against the marine fabric. No greasy splatters on the fabric, and I just wash or wipe it clean.

I think you have made a good choice with which you will be well pleased.
I have had a Scamp13D for 12years and would not trade it for a new standard today. I love my Catalina 2500 awning which is not as simple to use as the new Fiama now offered. We have the furnace as well as the heat strip, you will love the furnace when boondocking or overnighting at WalMart.
Certainly there are other competitive trailers on the market, but no better value.
