Can I write my trailer off of my taxes???
Every year I teach renewable resources to my fifth grade science class. We discuss at length the benefits of solar energy. I always use my camper as an example. I explain the function and show them pictures of our 1984 Uhaul with original solar panel on top. I'm thinking that now classifies it as a classroom resource. Don't you think? Can I write it off??
Bwhahaha! Just feeling silly today. I'd give every last dollar to those kids to watch them learn. Love it.

You can claim whatever you want on your taxes! Of course the IRS may totally lack a sense of humor about the whole thing but since I'm not paying your interest and penalties I say go for it.
Disclaimer:
The proceeding has not been advice nor should it be considered instructional or even a reasonably intelligent assessment of the options presented. I don't have any idea what I'm talking about and if you go to jail it's all your own doing. Don't blame me, or even mention me. If the IRS asks you don't even know I exist, thought I was just a rumor. I don't know what your talking about, forum what forum?

Lol!! Love it!
I purposely do not keep track of what I spend on my classes. It's all to a good cause. It's how I donate.
Hey Rogerdat, did I just meet you at a rally? Name is familiar.

No, but if you borrow money and are making payments on one, you can take the second home deduction ONLY if it has a bathroom. (Trivia I know about taxes.)
If you took your camper to school for say, a week, you could probably deduct 1/52 of your annual expenses for it.

No to Michigan. I've went to one rally. The Bluebonnet one in Texas. Still not sure if I'll make another one. I'm a bit younger than general demographics and I'm not used to talking that much. Not sure that I fit in yet. It was like everyone already had their own cliches and I was an outsider. Memories of high school. Lol
Plays well with others? Maybe not.

Well next year you won't be the "new kid", that will help. I notice some small groups hang out together. Which is fine, just like most somewhat diverse social groups people find kindred spirits to hang out with. Next year they look each other up and hang out together again. Next year the person someone is hoping will be there again may well be you.
Some only join the larger group once or twice during the weekend. They come with their party, spend the weekend mostly with themselves maybe go around and check out the other campers or come to a campfire to say hi, and are part of the overall egg fest tapestry even if not huge socializers.
When you think about it we all come from a diverse set of backgrounds and lifestyles, we do have FGRV's in common so we get together and hang out a bit and talk camping. There was a time when America had a lot more participation in social organizations that crossed neighborhood and social group boundaries which was mostly a positive thing.

It's all good unless not playing well with others degenerates into alcohol fueled political arguments or sword fights with marshmallow forks around a crowded camp fire. I mean really take that back to your site, but let me get my camera set for low light first. You know this is so going viral on YouTube!

Deductions like you are asking about are usually "Apportioned" meaning that you can deduct the percentage of use for education vs. personal use. Sounds like you might be able to take 2-3%. Is that worth the chance of an audit?

Be safer if you "apportioned" the solar portion only. By the time you do the calculations, it would not be worth the effort.

Just call it a class in "green energy"
I'd add "tea party" in the mix for good measure.
j/k...........you'd be guaranteed to become a target.
We can't put a price tag on teaching the upcoming generations.

Brandi, we've only made one rally so far, Quartszite and it was great. Everyone we met were very friendly. All it takes is saying hi. You won't be strangers long

Hey guys! I was only joking! Lol. I never itemize. I purposely throw the receipts away. I don't need evidence of how much I spend on my kids lying around.

Makes one wonder how many folks actually read a post all the way through before they respond, don't it?

Oh, I think Brandi knew you knew, Karl- it's just that she didn't know if the knowledge was known by some others that appeared not to know what you know, I know, and Brandi knows. Plus my dog knows, too, because I just read the opener to her, then I asked her if she knew that Brandi was bein' whatchamightcall "silly" (here pointing to where Brandi said so) and sure enough, Milly barked twice, which means "yes" or "I know", depending.
Know what I mean?
