Flood Damaged Lil Snoozy
Hello all!
I have been in the market for a fiberglass trailer for sometime. After doing a lot of research, I have come to the conclusion that a used Lil Snoozy would be the best fit for my needs. I like the all fiberglass aerodynamic design, the rear entry, and the ease of replacing appliances etc.
Unfortunately, used Lil Snoozys do not come on the market frequently. There was recently some flooding in my area, and I have the opportunity to purchase a 2016 Lil snoozy with a salvage title. It took on about 3 inches of salt water. The seller says the main components were not damaged...
My question is: what would be a fair price for this RV? The seller is asking 10k. And what sort of repairs/headaches can I expect from it? Any insight you can provide would be much appreciated! Based on pictures, the RV was in very good shape before the flood. Also, I am NOT handy, so I would be hiring a professional for any required repairs.

The Snoozy has wood cabinets inside the shell. If they were exposed to water for any length of time, even a few inches, you could be in for lots of problems, rot and mold. Water may be trapped under the bathroom enclosure. Wiring will probably have to be replaced, and possibly the fridge, which is mounted at floor level.
It’s scary how fast professional RV repair costs can mount. I’d pass.

I agree, not a good choice especially at that price. Everything that sat in salt water will have to be replaced. Wiring, running gear, whatever. This is a strip and start over project for someone real handy and worth maybe $2k-$3k.

Saved me some heartache
Thank you so much for the input. Guess I'll just have to be patient a while longer and hope another Snoozy comes along that fits my budget.

I agree. We just had our RV totaled by the Ins. Co., due to water getting in the bottom. Some want to take advantage of the unknowing. When there is a Salvage Title, the person has already been paid by the Ins. Co. It was already totaled. We just had ours totaled due to water getting in the bottom of it. A Certified Tech told us, don't even stay in it, even though we had Elec. At $150/hr. some even charge a fee just to come out. Any repairs done to an RV is not cheap!

In addition to the interior, the frame, wheel assemblies (brakes, bearings, axles), and wiring may be compromised due to rapid corrosion from salt water exposure. Given the potential for salt water to enter and be difficult to flush from the frame tubs, the price seems high for the associated risk. If you still wish to consider this purchase, it's advisable to have an expert inspector examine it. Personally, I would pass on it.

The Snoozy frame is galvanized, which is some help, but you are correct that axle, brakes, and many other components may require replacement.

And plan for like not using it for a year while you do all of this.
On the other hand if you do this you can do some updates and changes to match your needs and dreams. But this would more have to be a project of love because you would never get back the investment in your time. Heck you probably would not even get your investment in parts back.

A salvage title on a car is the kiss of death for resale value, I would think you could expect the same on this Scamp.

Probably. BUT with all of the work need this would have to be something you planned on keeping long term and would have to be a project of love not any profit.
But I bet insurance would be a nightmare too.
