Okay, are we going to say, "Hey, don't dis my drive-thru at Timmy's, I'm paying for it!" or are we going to say, "Pardon me, do you mind if I idle?"

What is the carbon foot-print of towing to a nearby lake with a self-contained unit vs. taking a plane and taxi and an elevator up to your hotel room in a city?

Taxes are a result of the need for revenue, not the need to solve problems. Once one understands this, all taxes make sense.

Taxes can also drive desired effects. For example; heavy registration fee for more then 2 l displacement engines as well as huge taxes on fuel in EU had positive impact on high gas mileage cars technology. On other hand, California registration fee based on car value is designed for maximum revenues.

They could have accomplished the same goals by making laws. You might guess that I am not a firm supporter of giving excess money to governments, as they eventually waste it and need more.

I would also think that BCs carbon tax is going to cost the Provence by having less tourist trade. People are starting to really watch their holiday money and will be much more cautious about traveling.
