Pricing an older model Bigfoot trailer?

Good evening everyone!

I'm about to look at an 80s model spirit wing in my area. It's a little more than I wanted to spend on a trailer, but I'll be full timing in it in a cold area, so I figured it's be worth it to pay extra for a four season. I really like the layout of the Bigfoots, too.

Some people on the Facebook group I'm in said it was too much for an older trailer, while others said it was a steal. Another model of the same size from the 90s recently sold for 4k more around the same location, so I thought it was reasonable.

I guess I'm looking for some guidance here. I know to check for signs of rot on the inside, but is there anything else I should be worried about?

Do you have a photo or a link to the ad? We're about the all-molded (clamshell-type) trailers, and I've not heard of a "Spirit Wing" model in that category. Not all Bigfoot models are all-molded, so that creates confusion.

Hello Jon, here is a photo of the unit:

It appears to be two pieces rather than one piece of molded fiberglass, but I'm not sure having not seen it up close.

From what I've found online, the spirit wing was the package above deluxe. But I haven't found any definitive information.

Yup, that’s a rare early all-molded model, 19’ maybe?. We’ve seen a few before, but I’d never heard the name “Spiritwing.”

At that age, value is all about condition. I’d put the value roughly between $8-15K. The lower end would be original and solid but unrestored, possibly needing a few repairs. The upper end would have most of the mechanical systems updated (wiring, plumbing, appliances), and cosmetics redone (floors, upholstery…) It could go even lower or higher if it’s unusually rough or fully renovated. Just looking at the wheels, I’m wondering if the running gear has had any attention recently.

I didn’t think all the older units were 4-season, though. You can tell by the model number. If it starts with 15, it’s a 1500-series 3-season build, and if it starts with 25 it’s a 2500-series 4-season unit. Dual pane windows are another indicator.

Sagging roof, soft floors, and water damage in the walls under the windows are the things to look for. Also check all the mechanical systems for proper function, especially the fridge. You can find a buyer’s checklist in the Document Center in the More tab. .
