Fentanyl components originate in the far east, not in Canada or Mexico. What about those countries' responsibility to do a better job of checking what's coming in at their ports, before it's transported across another border into the US?

NOR CAN THE PRICE OF GASOLINE

However, increased consumer prices can be directly connected to tariffs. So all we can do is wait and see how this fiasco works out.
Continued tariffs will not be limited to price increases for trailers but will send prices spiraling across the board on most consumer goods having a negative impact in the US as well as Canada, Mexico and other countries we trade with.
Bill, as an economics major you are knowledgeable enough to understand this. Thank you for stating it. However, a sizeable segment of the population is not. Arnold Palmer’s admirer indicated that it was his intention to put them in place before he was given the authority to do so. I for one do not want to hear any whining like “I didn’t expect him to do this” as prices for food and goods go higher and higher, nor will I have any sympathy for those who complain. Reminds me of the French Revolution and “let them eat cake.” Not that I am religious, but one of my favorite Biblical passages is Galatians 6-7 (essentially, you reap what you sow).

Mike, if we can’t keep it out, how do you expect them to do so. You seem to think this is a problem that would be simple for Canada or Mexico to solve. News flash: It ain’t that simple. For example, look at the statistics in Vancouver. Lots of deaths from drug ODs. Do you think Canada isn’t making an effort to stop the influx of these poisons. If you believe the borders of Canada and Mexico are the only places where fentanyl components are entering the U.S., you are sadly mistaken. I don’t care how tight you make the borders, the drug lords will find a way (tunnels, boats, submarines, small planes, etc.). Drug running is big business. Think about it. Was law enforcement able to easily stop the flow of illegal booze during prohibition?

Hi, folks. This thread has drifted. Please limit the discussion to the effects of tariffs on imported RVs (travel trailers) and/or tow vehicles. Thank you.

I find it highly unlikely that the manufacturer will cover the tariff. If the tariffs are still there when your trailer is imported you will be paying a tariff.

You may want to read your contract and see if there is any mention of tariffs in the fine print.

This thread is starting to get too political, so I am closing it.

I do realize that tariffs can affect trailer costs, but we don't need to discuss one's political thoughts and topics like this naturally end up going in that direction.
