All the bureaucracy is staying in Washington. This is just the means to get rid of senior, mid level staff that disagreed with many of the new rules and regulations being put in place. A lot of these new regulations go against what the BLM was created for, being to manage public lands for all of us. Very few of the folks are taking the transfers, instead they're retiring.

Stripping out the DC presence. Just like moving the USDA economists to Kansas City, in hopes that most will quit. Pure and simple.

We in the West have the notion to "cut off the East Coast and have it drift into the Atlantic and sink", so the BLM relocation to Grand Junction is a good thing. 😉😉

The isolated ranchers are too broke to pay for lobbyist to protect their interest and cowboys just want to be left alone to do their own thing. It is illegal to live on that land so no one is being forced out of their home. Yep not a high enough in status agency, might as well tuck them out of sight in a foresaken spot where it is difficult for them show up for the high powered meetings about things such as protecting wildlife and wilderness.

It maybe illegal to live on that land but it's not illegal to make your living grazing that land. Many of these ranches outdate the BLM and their grazing rights are protected by the Taylor Grazing Act. The feds own a large percentage of western lands that are only suitable for grazing and habitat so a ranch just can't go buy more land. There is none for sale. And when you look at total cost to utilize BLM land, the total cost per AUM (not just the grazing fees, the fencing, water development, etc) is greater than on private land. These lands by law are to be managed for "multiple use" but that's not what is happening. We are so well fed in this country that the land's value for recreation is s deemed more important the food production than food by the majority.

So people are being forced out of their homes.
I don't want to start a political controversary but I live in the interior west and it's happening here, now!

I had to remove some overt and clearly partisan political posts, as well as edit out references to highly political subjects regarding federal lands.

The BLM in general and this move is a subject that has strong political threads running through it. This is not the place to discuss those threads.

For the most part the views have been about the move as a practical matter. BLM boondock camping is clearly a subject of interest to members here. If posts continue on the practical or informative good. If not the thread will just end up shut down to conform to the forum rules against political discussions.
