Visit to the Egg Camper factory

I needed a part for ours so I went to the factory. Jim Palmer told me he had been notified that manufacturers were no longer going to be allowed to put spare tires and other things on the rear bumpers. He showed me what they have done to comply. They have redesigned the curbside closet to store the spare tire in the rear of the closet. Surprisingly it doesn't take up a lot of space.

Who notified him and what was the reasoning? Seems odd. Raz

I would have thought that that big chunk of rubber and air was a safety factor. Hmmmmm! My bad.

I think he said the RVIA notified him but no notification from the government yet.

I got to the Casita factory today. I'm in Texas visiting relatives. Couldn't pass up a chance to see the place & pick up parts for my "new" unit. Everyone was very helpful. I got a quick tour too. They have units ready to go & some on sale for about $3000 off.

Just not on the bumpers? Scamp and Casita attach theirs to to the body and not to the bumper. They may be in compliance already...
