Very interesting... one thing he guesses at (but has no evidence of) is that since there is only one temperature sensor perhaps the BMS is setup to cut off charging at a higher temperature. He mentions maybe 40F instead of 32 or 35. If its true that it stops charging at 40F then that makes the battery a little less useful, but its still really nice.

And here is an interview about how the batteries are assembled and tested. They go into the low temp charge discharge discussion at one point and he talks about testing individual cells and groups of cells, how many cycles can be expected, rated vs actual output, etc.
