Converting to LED bulbs?

which lights are the ones which use the 1156 bulbs? which Scamp do you have? I was trying to see how to replace the bulbs in the turret lights above the bed but couldn’t figure out how to take them apart. It’s a great idea to use the LED bulbs, they last so long

Well, I have a 2001 Scamp19. It's the 5th wheel one. Those black, swivel lights on both sides of the bed area, one got torn off while putting a regular house mattress up there. All that was left was the 2 wires sticking out of the fiberglass. So I took those 2 wires and connected them to a USB outlet. The other one, I forgot to get a LED for.


If I can figure out how to post pics here, I will show how it looks

Are you talking about this light:


IIRC, Push and turn about 1/4 turn.

I think this is the bulb in my reading lights in my 2020 Scamp 13’. If so, Scamp already put LED’s in them. The fixture is also on Amazon.

The change is easy.



The only things to consider, from my experience, is that some of the cheaper bulbs flicker more than others. This bothers some people.



The other issue is the light color temperature. By that I mean you can choose to have your lights on the warmer (yellow light) side or on the cooler (blue light) side. Bulbs listing a 2700K color temperature are like incandescent light which is warmer than 4200K which is like florescent light.

And some cause RFI (radio frequency interference)... I've got one or more that wipe out my FM or television inside the Faraday cage called a Scamp. And some really do get very hot. Poor quality shows in many ways.

Yes, our Scamp had 2 of them in black. I say 2 because we only have 1 now.
