With some others selling similar capacity Li Fe Phosphate batteries for half that amount, the pressure is surely on to lower pricing.

yeah, like you can still get Bestgo 400Ah (430+ actually) for close to $2K from Electric Car Parts Company. Hard to beat, excellent battery!

I can build my own for about $1000. Dead simple and should anything ever go wrong (unlikely) then I know how to fix it.

Are you willing to share your sources for cells, spot welder and BMS?

I pondered building my own too but I came up with a price more in the $1400-$1600 area and decided $500 was a worthy premium to have a high quality finished product with a solid warranty as opposed to the Frankenstein I would likely cobble together.

BatteryHookup is a well respected source for the DIYer. In addition I was highly trained in electronics back in the 60s and 70s and worked in it for 20 years so I am comfortable as a DIYer doing this kind of thing.

The battery packs minus the BMS. Useful if you want to build a 24v system or something

This is just one option. These are the round cells, already spot welded and wired. This stuff is really pretty simple. Binge watch some Will Prowse videos to see just how easy it is.

That is a great price for a prebuilt battery.

Not unless they are giving 50% off. They used to be somewhat unique, now there are all kinds of options. Reminds me of Yeti coolers.

Eventually, low cost producer is going to win the battery battle.

You can't take it with you Bill, so you might as well spend it on the things you enjoy and want!!

I buy prismatic LiFePO4 cells and BMS on AliExpress, spot welder is not needed for this cell form factor.

How about $760 for 200 amp hour LifePo4?
Prices seem to be dropping fast even while inflation is causing most everything else to get more expensive in late 2021.

In fact check out the Honey 120 price chart on this item:

The link in the OP has this "The Battle Born Battery also requires no new hardware to run in your boat, RV, trailer, or golf cart. Just pull out that grungy old lead acid battery (use two hands, those suckers are heavy), drop in this elegant upgrade, and get yourself out there.” Is this correct?

Yes, prices are dropping. I bought that brand, 100ah. Quite happy with mine.

When I get my safety bonus I'll be buying another, probably a 300ah. Though I may very well build my own.

Yes, mostly. Battle Born recommends changing out the charger for a lithium, but the old charger won't hurt your new battery.

Welcome. I purchased a Ampere Time 100ah battery for ~$500. I have not changed anything else and all is working.

My PD charger is for lead acid. It will charge the battery all the way up. However a LoFePO4 battery sits at 13.4 or so when it is done charging. That "fools" the charger into believing that the battery is never being used, since a lead acid will drop down towards 12v and under when used. So once charged up, a lead acid charger will not charge the battery again (bulk charge) until such time as the LiFePO4 pretty much completely discharges, whereupon said battery will drop down towards 10v, whereupon the charger kicks back into bulk mode.

It will however hold a float voltage which keeps a LiFePO4 charged to about 70%. Just the way it all works. And the charger also provides current for the coach under normal circumstances, even if no battery is present.

So what really happens is that the LiFePO4 just sits at 70% charge most of the time. If you unplug though and go dry camp, your battery is only at 70%. Unless you have solar which will keep the battery fully charged.

Which is why Battle Born recommends changing the charger to one for LiFePO4. The thing to remember is that a LiFePO4 battery doesn't care if it is only partially charged, as opposed to Lead Acid batteries which will be damaged doing that.
