How to seal/calk new side lite

Hello all!
1983 13' Burro owner here.

I unfortunately cracked my trailers driver side front/side light. I ordered a new one from e-trailer, which included the base plate & wires, so I will need to remove old & re-attach and seal new one.

Question is, what kind of seal/calk should I use around new base plate?
New base will attach with screws, but I want to seal & adhere new base plate to trailer body.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Sealing?

HI

When installing new marker lights on the Trillium I did not bother sealing
around the light. I just made sure to seal the holes where the wires
go through the fiberglass with a dollop of bath tub caulk. After 10 years
they still are working well with no noticeable water incursion.

Sealers

I would use some Dicor Non Sagging Lap Sealer around the wires where they go through the fiberglass and also where the screw go through.

I would not use any silicone sealer as they do not bond and seal to the fiberglass very well and will leak. It is also hard to remove all of it when you need to reseal it, Do not use silicone sealer on anything on an RV.

I also would not seal the light housing to the fiberglass as if it has any leak the moisture will stay in there and cause the contacts on the wires and sockets and bulbs to corrode. It will also make it hard to remove the light housing if you need to in the future.

I am not a fan of Camping World but some of there prices are good and this is a great price right now there and here is a link"

marker light sealing

What about using butyl tape but leave a 3/8' gap at the bottom of the light?
Easy enough to remove if needed. I haven't tried it yet but am considering it.
